We have just returned from 25 days in Rajasthan (our first time in India). Like most people writing here, we booked India By Car and Driver on the back of the reviews. We were not disappointed.
We negotiated an itinerary covering the Rajasthan Region, based on what we had read, and the recommendations of Ramesh and his team. The price was very competitive, and we only had to pay 50% up front, with a trip to the office in Jaipur to settle balance.
There was only one hitch in the entire holiday, and that was upon arrival in Delhi. We had a driver for the entire trip, but he was unable to join us until day 2. Ramesh organized a driver to pick us up from Delhi airport, transfer us to our hotel and give us a Delhi tour the next morning. Unfortunately, our plane was late, the guy had taken himself off somewhere (for a sleep?) and we were, after a bit of hassle , forced to take a taxi to our hotel. It would have been useful if we had got the exact address/phone number of the hotel (Ramesh please note) (rather than just a web link)…. It took nearly 2 hrs for our taxi to find it (we arrived at 4am, feeling a bit stressed).
The temporary driver duly appeared at the hotel the next morning, full of apologies, and off we went.
After that, the holiday was brilliant. Our (real) driver Jogedar Bhati (Yogi) was excellent. Safe, professional, good English, always on time, and aware of our needs and forced to answer a million questions!! All done with good humour.
We had guides for the major attractions (paid as part of the package) and those were usually excellent too. We stayed in a mix of hotels (our request). Some (Deogarh Palace, Kesroli Fort, Rawla Narlai, Bundi Haveli) were absolutely stunning.
We'd certainly use IBCD again. They provided excellent service and value for money.
