As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we were happy to see such a grand entrance and reception area. However, the longer I tried to ask the front desk to help us book a transport for the elephant tour we had ALREADY booked, the more frustrated I got. He ended up calling one his buddies from another elephant tour and kept trying to make us book another tour over the phone with them. I told him over and over again, no, we already had a tour booked yet he still insisted that this was almost the exact same thing and that we should go with his instead...not too impressed after that.
Once we settled into our rooms and got ready for bed, we were shocked to find another little guest with us...a MOUSE...we called the same dude at front desk to help get it out. At first he said it was not possible that there was a mouse and that we were just seeing things...only to have the mouse run out exactly at that moment. He then stared at the room for a few more minutes not knowing what to do at all before getting one of the hotel service staff to come with a broom to help sweep it out. Both unsuccessful and by that time it was 3AM and we were fed up and tired with their absolute lack of effort in resolving this matter. He then told us we should speak with the manager in the morning instead since there was no other room right now. So basically that night, we slept with the mouse roaming around...not too impressed again.
The next morning we met with the manager and explained the situation. We told him we would refuse to pay for the night as we had not really slept and for the obvious reason, there was a mouse. He disagreed saying that that room given to us was a free upgrade to a king suite already and that the upgrade wasn't part of our standard double bed booking so he would not compensate us for the night spent with the mouse. We argued back that we would have rather had the double bed room as it came with no mouse..he didn't seem to take notice of that fact. Eventually he negotiated that it was not possible to give us a free night, but we could have a free dinner instead but no free drinks...was this a nice gesture? Maybe in India, definitely wouldn't pass in Canada...
However, when we realized we required an extra night stay the hotel manager was able to accomodate us right away. That would've been the only plus. Our overall experience was less than satisfactory. Definitely NOT impressed with the level of service we received.
