“MUST VISIT for First Timer; Regular visitors Please AVOID”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

I have been frequent visitor to Chokhi Dhani, visited 6 times in last 5 years. Till recent visit, I was a Big Fan of this site. However I could see significant drop in their service levels, despite the fact that they have got competition just in front of their gate. This site is open for 5 hours (from 6 pm to 11 pm), I spent 2 and half hours just for food. One of the prime attraction was their food and serving, but this disappointed me during this visit. First I had to wait in Queue, then with empty plate and then for service of food of your choice. You call them for your food and you remain unheard. For frequent visitor, please DO NOT visit this site again. It will be total waste of money.

For first timer, this is MUST experience. You will love this site very much for the fact that you will get all traditional type culture, dance, shows, structures etc. (this become repetitive for frequent visitors).

“Rip off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

I visited Chokhi Dhani after around 5 years. The first time around was a very pleasant experience. Food was served very well and so was the service. As far as the village experience is concerned, nothing has changed. same magic (magician changed) They charge Rs. 450 per person and Rs. 250 for kids under 5. Every ride inside costs from Rs. 20 to Rs. 50. Once you are done with seeing the village experience, you head for a confusing dinner. You will find multiple lines and its just short of a railway station where people queue and jump the lines anticipating a quicker turn to the dinner table. Well, they do have a change now - they have started a buffet where the same food is served on tables. We chose the traditional style. To start with the ordeal, after such a long wait, we had to painfully see how the hosts keep the plates and try out the kulhads with water and buttermilk (after figuring that half of them are having holes or are broken). Then they serve the farsan, chutneys, pickles, subjis and rotis. A child below 5 cannot have any of this food. Too spicy and nothing they can cater to a kid. no khichdi, no sweet dal (since the one they served was extremely spicy). they only served moong dal halwa. nothing special about the sweet either. Was appalling to see that one had to ask repeatedly for subjis or rotis till finally somebone turns with them. The waiters try their best to put up an act to force feed, but no genuinity in that act. I have spent considerable time in Gujarat where the dining hall experience is one to swear by; I would rather settle for a panchavati gurav or may be even a rajdhani for the food than being lured by this once famous outlet. I think if anybody wants to try out a chokhi dhani style, try the new outlet opened just opposite chokhi dhani. have heard that the food is much better.

“Trip to Jaipur”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

great village setting. lots of things to pass the time like camel ride/elephant ride/horse ride etc. ferris wheel, mehendi walis, magic show etc etc. my children went for the multi cuisine buffet and my husband and I went for the royal rajasthani thali. all of us were raving about the food.
The only minus point is that it is located very far. another place has come up right opposite Chokhi Dhani and we were told that it is also somewhat similar.
great place for an evening but lots and lots of rush

Nice food, Good ambience. Heritage experience. Time well spent. Located slightly out of the way, but worth the time and effort.
