Good position, in old town. A bit grubby round the edges, didn't feel particularly secure - room opened onto car park. Eveidence of water leaking through sealing, cold and cheerless room. OK for 1 night, but glad I wasn't staying there any longer.

Mahar Haveli is a class act. This is a new enterprise that ticks all the right boxes. You should get in quick, in 2-3 years the prices for this place will be much higher as there will be a queue to get in!

White marble floors, delightful stained glass windows, and countless elegant deft touches give the Mahar Haveli a classically Indian Colonial feel. And what's more the service matches the tasteful decor.

We have been travelling across India for 2 months now, and we have come to expect Indian hotel standards; where the advertised hot water is luke warm and trickling, where you have to work & tip the staff to get clean towels and sheeting and where the room is a grotty disappointment, the Mahar Haveli is very much otherwise; This is a family business and you feel the family's refined and cultured pride and commitment to the product.

The only concern, is that early morning temple prayers, which last 10-15 mins, woke me early in the morning, but I am a light sleeper who likes to sleep in. I also think you'd be hard pressed to find a room in this ancient city that was free of these chants.
