“A very charming little heritage hotel, immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2011

Having stayed in Jaipur many times, I can safely say that this is the BEST hotel for the budget traveller. Its India's navy Admiral's ancestral home and he is the most gracious host offering his guests personalized attention. The hotel's rooms are immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable in every way. The atmosphere is serene and pleasant, quite a contrast to the noisy city. Nice basic breakfast and snacks. The Admiral is from the Royal family of Chomu and a few rooms are dedicated to a small family history museum of the Kings of Chomu, which adds to the atmosphere of the place. Its perfect for the budget traveller - great value for money for a heritage hotel. I've stayed there 3 times and can safely say that my experiences have been very consistent with the hotel!

Admiral Singh's ancestral home is located not far from the centre of Jaipur in an area that is experiencing something of a building boom.

With its pool, garden and lounges the hotel is an excellent base from which to explore the pink city. The Admiral is an authority on the City and the State and can offer lots of useful tourist suggestions. Taxis and tuks are plentiful and there is an HSBC bank and ATM next door.

The rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast and dinner were good value.

On one of my trips to the city, I just saw the board and came in to take a look. That was about a couple of years ago.Since then I have stayed at Devi Niketan for than ten times. This is a no frills but a friendly place. The rooms are spacious and clean as the hearts of people who manage them. The food is home cooked, which is hygenic and flavoured with the love from who serve it. The dining room is simple but spick and span. The lounges are like your home's drawing rooms. The well maintained lawns are huge. The swimming pool is large. You almost have it to yourself as the number of rooms is just 14. The admiral personally comes to meet and chat with each and every guest. He is there in person to provide any assistance. For this he and his staff go out of the way. Do I need to say anymore?

We paid 2610 Rupees with breakfast & consider this very reasonable rate for Jaipur.

The house is set on a large property & has a lot of memorabilia on the walls. In charge is the Admiral - a charming & nice man who will advise you on all facets of both Jaipur & India. All the staff are very helpful. The breakfasts were good. They will have your laundry cleaned in 24hrs. There is low cost wifi.

The room was spacious & bathroom nice & clean but the geyser was a little on the small side making it a quick shower but at least it was hot.

The Admiral sent us on a Heritage Walk thro' old city which was well worthwhile. There is much to see in Jaipur so make sure you allow a minimum of 3 nights.Thank you for having us on board.

I got to know about Devi Niketan after reading all positive reviews in Trip Advisor.
And indeed it was more than we expected.
Placed at a central location in the Jaipur, hotel looks gorgeous yet is homely and warm.
Though availability of rooms isn't easy because there are few in the hotel and mostly occupied by foreign tourists..
Owned by Admiral Madhvendra Singh and family,he himself was there to address us all the time, giving us suggestion where to travel, how, arranging cabs..infact we were privileged to interact with such well known and respected personality of the state and country.Rooms were very comfortable and had all basic facilities.
They don't have resturant and only breakfast and dinner is provided if you inform early.
But food served was good, simple and less spicy,i guess more to suit foreign taste buds.It was actually a healthy treat after having all the street food and fatty meals in resturants outside.
It's a place anyone would be happy to stay and I would recommend Devi niketan to anyone travelling to Jaipur!

Located more or less in the heart of the city, Devi Niketan is a heritage hotel which provides sufficient value for money. Moderately priced, this place gives a proper heritage ambience which otherwise would have costed a lot. Rooms are nice and spacious and so are the bathrooms. The look and feel of the hotel is like a proper Rajput heritage bungalow with old artefacts and furniture reflecting the bygone era.

Service is a little slow with only a few waiters around to help you. In addition there is no restaurant and only breakfast is complimentary. Lunch is not served at the hotel and if you want to have dinner then one needs to tell them in advance. Food standard is pretty good.

The owner of this place is a retired navy admiral who is very helpful and knows a lot about history of the state. Rest assured that he would help you out in case of any need or information.

Overall it is a very nice place to stay, really good ambience at an affordable price!!

Thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay here after all the good reviews on this site. Personally greeted by the Admiral who was gracious and interesting. His very large family home was comfortable, SAFE and filled with pieces of his family and naval history. Deluxe room was quirky and a good size with four poster bed, standard room pretty basic (but good for the price.) Good lawn and pool out the back to relax in, plus other quiet aread in the house to chill out or meet others. Good breakfast (included) in the dining room; the Admiral runs the house like a ship.

Area: interesting 1930s part of the city that's rapidly becoming more fashionable with shopping malls etc. Easy and quick to get into town. An adventure getting back.

I wouldn't choose anywhere else in Jaipur!

Devi Niketan is a family owned and operated Heritage Hotel in central Jaipur which was inaugurated on April 2008. It stands on a big plot with large, lush green lawns in front and rear of the building, a large parking area and a swimming pool. A double storied heritage house, it is part of the 140 acre estate of the former ruling family of Chomu. Adjacent to Devi Niketan is "Govind Niwas", the residence of Admiral Madhvendra Singh and his wife Kumu, who own and run "Devi Niketan". Govind Niwas too stands on a big plot with plenty of greenery. Taken together the two properties stand on a two acre estate which gives a feeling of space and tranquility - even though it is surrounded by a bustling city. It is in a "Happening" neighbourhood with plenty of eating places, Ayurvedic massage parlours, shopping malls with food courts and movie theaters, banks & ATMs, gyms - all within one kilometer. While we do not have an a la Carte Restaurant, a Buffet Breakfast is available and Dinner is served if ordered. ... more   less
