“Excellent Budget Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

This property is sea facing and located in better part of Marine Drive.

We got a double room here for just over $50 for a double room. If you get it for the same price-- its a cracking deal and I would recommend you book it.

And yes, its a basic hotel with basic facilities.

I would say stay here for the price and location.

a good hotel, friendly staff, sea facing hotel, no need for an ac. only drawback is the constant sound from the road and lots of light. you cannot do anything about the vehicular sound, but the curtains should be thicker and then only outside light can be stopped from entering the room. For the price it is highly recommened as most of the places are on walking distance only. room service provides only tea and coffee and that too, only after 7 am. for those early risers, it is difficult to adjust. you have to come out of hotel, walk down to churchgate station which is just 5 minutes walking distance and take a road-side stall to have your

this has to be the best option, if you're looking for a budget bombay sojourn. its bang on the marine drive. the most lively of all spaces. an incredibly atmospheric space to be in. sure there are some cons to the hotel too. At around 5000/night, its not an incredible value for money. But considering the location, it is (not surprisingly) the cheapest option to stay. You get a moderately clean, but huge room & a decent bathroom. but best of all, a smallish balcony & a chair for you to enjoy the marine drive view at 3 am, and still be privy to the sight of countless couples out on the necklace. biggest room tip you'll ever need. reserve the sea-facing room during your booking, and thank me for the tip after your trip.

you shouldnt have super high expectations, as the hotel is not managed very professionally. the common toilet on the ground floor was stinking when we visited. there is no free breakfast, but lot of options nearby. also in evenings, the staff will get you a beer bottle from nearby shop for 20/- tip, its that sort of a place. and i love it exactly for that.

eating options. one of the best is Shiv Sagar. a popular food chain serving everything in chaat, doas, pao bhaji etc. not just jazz by the bay, was one of the fantastic italian. barely 100 metres from the hotel. there's a parsi ice-cream shop by the name of rustomji i think, serving ice-cream sandwich (wont tell more, try it). and bombay chain "Naturals" ice-cream, the equivalent of Delhi's Nirulas, is also a short walk away is a popular place for fruit based stuff. do not miss anjeer (fig), or sitaphal (custard apple). if you are not afraid of venturing far, and in the mood of good dhaba style north indian, then visit bhagat chand tara chand in kalbadevi near johari bazaar.

also try flagging a yellow taxi down a little away from the hotel. the resident blue taxis stationed permanently outside the hotel do not allow the regular-charging taxis to pick up people easily.

Room Tip: sea-facing/balcony. i would say dont book a room, if you do not get this.

This hotel offers very little for a lot of money. The price of 5200 rupees per night does not even include wifi or breakfast. The rooms are furnished with very old furniture and has clearly not had any upgrade in the past 15 years. Clean though but definitely not worth the money you pay. Very noisy street below the apartment. Will not recommend to anyone!

This hotel is very basic for the price range, but that is because Mumbai prices are so high. Very clean though, with friendly and helpful front desk staff. It still feels like British army barracks - twin beds, and the shower is just a nozzle in the bathroom wall and a few buckets placed underneath. A bit strange that the housekeeping staff asked us a few mornings whether we wanted our room cleaned or not, and sort of made you feel bad for saying yes; some of them were also very direct about wanting tips. On the other hand, they were helpful. Absolutely amazing view from our ocean-side room, though for the light sleepers among us Marine Drive and the ocean promenade are (very) loud all night.

Nothing beats the location of this hotel and it is great value considering the other hotels in the area are very pricey. Marine Drive is the best place to stay in Mumbai.

Rooms are large, clean and comfortable and also have a nice balcony section to see the beautiful view. Breakfast, soft drinks and bottled water are all available. The staff at the front desk are always eager to help. There are lots of places to eat at nearby and everything is walking distance. The area is very safe as well so you can stay out till late at night.

Would recommend for tourists.

Mumbai is expensive and one should pay much more to get European standard accomodation. This hotel has a good location but is very old and basic. Clean for Indian average locations but we received a room on the first floor on Marine drive. At night it was very hard to sleep for the incredible traffic and honking cars. The building exterior was in reconstruction so our terrace was surronded by bamboo structures (check pics). I think they should renew the inside rooms as well. Our bathroom presented a window connected with another bathroom, so we could here noises (imagine what I'm talking about) from othere guests
