“For Love of Tea with Old World Charm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

I have been going to this place since my teenage days and still love going there time and again. Most of the visitors I have taken along, appreciate the place and enjoy it as much as me and keep going back there again and again. I agree with a lot of views where they have mentioned that the options for coffee are multiple but not for tea in the city (though there are some definitely), they have loads of options available and I have tried many a variety and would give an average rating of around 84/100. The tables are spaced out and not like the coffee shops where one can easily overhear the next table conversation, a definite plus. The food served is decent but nothing to rave about but then one doesn't visit the Tea Centre for the food, it is the tea that we go for and there one is not disappointed. The hygiene is not upto the mark, in case that is addressed, this place can be rated a 5/5. Service is lazy but then one doesn't expect anything else in a place like this. Good place to relax and chill, none will hover on your table asking you to leave. I love this place and recommend the same to all tea lovers.

“Caffeine @ Starbucks, Alcohol @ BBC or Nirvana @ Tea Centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Its a irony that Mumbai city that has 100's of watering holes & 100's of coffee joints there is only one specialty place which serves you variety of teas, the Tea Centre at Churchgate, Mumbai. The place may not have the Wi-Fi of Starbucks but it has the rare, old world charm which connects you totally with the person you are with & makes conversations flow easily. While placing orders is through tabs @ BBC (British Brewing Co), here @ TC all the tables have a little bell that has to be tinkled for ordering. TC serves not just tea but all the three meals. My choice is breakfast here which has everything from local to global on the menu. Another USP of this place is the willingness of the staff to customize dishes to individuals taste. There are @ 50 different kinds of hot & cold teas being served . While the taste of the teas is extremely good and the choice wide, some of the best teas are missing. For tasting same you have to visit Sunset lounge at Darjeeling, East India. See my review

I Strongly recommend TC for experiencing its old world charm and relaxed atmosphere while drinking good tea and enjoying good food.
Last but not the least my compliments to Adman Prahlad Kakkar for transforming a dull place into a vibrant place during the period he was assigned to manage same

“A haven of calm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

This is an absolute throw back to another age!

A quiet, comforable, air conditioned bit of heaven, amidst the chaos and noise that is Mumbai!! Offering an interesting menu, and obviously, an excellent choice of teas, with a small shop attached where you may purchase your preferred tea.

Well worth a visit, good service, and no rush to move you on.

“Chai time back in times of British Raj”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

The varieties of tea (hot and cold) and the quaint snacks to go with it make this a lovely place to be in. Add to it the fact that this is an institution with so much history in it.. Dont miss Tea Centre.

“Gem in Bombay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

I grew up around Tea Center when it used to also feature green tea ice cream. They do not offer that any more which is a shame. Nonetheless, this charming, pleasant, relaxed place in the heart of South Bombay is an oasis, whether to just chill have your favorite cuppa, for a date, meeting, just read a book or hangout. It is open all day long, and the menu varies from breakfast to snacks to meals. The consistent thing is the huge tea menu. Take your pick. I usually end up having 2 -3 different kinds in one visit. Food is not the forte here. Come for the tea, the atmosphere (cute little bells on the table to call for service), relaxed service, no hassles, and have the food on the side. Once I arrived for breakfast at 9am and stayed till almost closing time at 8pm! It is that kind of place. A rare gem in Bombay!
