“Very good location in Mumbai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

The YWCA is located in the central of Mumbai. All places, buildings etc. have been in walking distance. All rooms inlcude breakfast and dinner. The quality of the food was average. The rooms have been very clean and big. Each day you also get the "Times of India".
I would recommend this hotel especially for backpackers since the location of the hotel is perfect!

We had five nights here the location is great and the rooms are nice and clean. The best ones are the front with the balconies. You get breakfast and dinner include so the it works out to be okay value. The food was good and there was lots of it. The dinner room was a little like being in an institution and cold. Stay away from the AC. There are a lot of rules but we could live with that. The reception staff where just not helpful and on more than one occasion on asking a question it felt like we where annoying them and interrupting them. There was usually 3/4 on duty so more than enough to cope. We did have a small issue with someone else's laundry coming to our room. We told the cleaning staff not ours and they took it away.We also informed the desk staff straight away but they still tried to charge us for it on checking out. Had to write a note declaring not ours and sign it before we left. Good value and the domestics staff are delightful.

Room Tip: Get one of the front rooms

My family of 5 stayed here in December, 2012. The price was reasonable for Mumbai, which is a very expensive city to stay in. The location is very central....right around the corner from the Colaba causeway (great markets) and walking distance (5min to the Gateway of India). Free meals were basic but actually quite tasty and convenient. Free wifi that worked reasonably well in the rooms....although cut out sometimes. Service was pretty good. Beds were not bad. Bathrooms were roomy and reasonably clean. Rooms were made up and linen changed regularly (just ask). The booking process was a little tricky as (from memory) I had to transfer money and it was a little complicated. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
We liked the fact that the YWCA helps out various women's programs in India.

The YWCA Guesthouse is conveniently located and has helpful staff. It was a treat to have breakfast and supper included in the price. Our only complaint was that the air conditioners seemed to be blowing directly on us; so we turned up the temperature to 25.

This places is supposed to represent Christian values but instead I felt as if they nickeled and dimed travelers for everything they're worth. It's a strict and pricy place. After meeting some others in colaba and seeing ther rooms for less than half the price I wish I had stayed else where.

First the good - the YWCA is in a fantastic location within walking distance to central Mumbai.
Its fairly cheap [for Mumbai], very clean and very safe, and there's a great taxi driver outside who speaks excellent English & will take you around all the sites in Mumbai for a day.
But this place has more rules than a reform school - and treats its guests like juveniles who've been sentenced to time in a junior jail. Don't you dare check in early or break any of their many, many rules which they live to enforce..
Worth staying if you want to stay cheaply & can handle the prison camp experience & mediocre breakfast [for dinner head to 5 Spice or Khyber] - otherwise look elsewhere

Room Tip: Not sure there are any
