My family and I stayed at the ITC Grand central during the Independence week end ( from the 15th to the 17th of August) taking advantages of their freedom package which slashed their usual prices. Obviously with a cheaper package came a cheaper room. It was a small room but it had everything we needed except another bed they promised to install for my younger son. They forgot the first night or they just did not want to disturb us as we had put the do not disturb sign out. Anyway the second day they insisted on bringing it in but we declined because the room was just too small. And as an apology they send over a fruit platter.
The room we had was on the 12th floor and did not have a great view. But the breakfast buffet ( included in the package) was superb with many choices from Indian cuisine to continental. We even had take away twice neatly packed.
On the 31st floor of the hotel, there is viewpoint with a nice lounge. It is interesting to go there and just chill but apparently it is only reserved for guests staying on the 20th floor and above and no kids are allowed (also no shorts allowed). I found that a bit harsh but we did enjoy it anyway as they did not ask us to leave.
It Is a nice hotel worth staying there. The service is good, the concierge was helpful in finding some restaurants in town for us. And they even gave us souvenirs as we left. But I do not like the fact that their Wi Fi service is not complimentary. They charge 250 rupees an hour I think. A luxury hotel like that should have free Internet. I also did not like the smell in our room. They spritz it with air freshener when we complain but it still stayed.
Overall it was ok but not perfect.
