“Jaw dropping place !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

It is utterly incredible & unique ! The hole of Mumbai gets their clothes washed here ! They do not commit mistakes & the whites are as white as can be ! I believed they iron the clothes using a coal iron & manage not to burn them ! What an experience ! highly recommend.

“Amazing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Incredible outdoor laundry. Watch as the clothes are cleaned by banging them against the sides of each cubicle. They are never mixed up , you will always gets back what you have given them. They have special marks on all the items taken here. It's interesting to see all different colour clothes are in seperate areas
Fascinating to see the industry here, not sure how the clothes are dried during the monsoons
Visit this site and make up your mind if tradition or modernisation is better

“Intersting If You Have A Guide”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

There is a lot of story, background information, back alleys, people to meet, and operation of this area that to go without a guide is useless. There is much to learn even from the single serving size of the soaps.

This place is where much of Mumbai has its laundry washed from hotels to private homes. See the laundry in all stages and watch the logistics of a large operation turn. People are constantly busy all around you. Working all day for so little these people know work. A traditional business in a country where there is no larbour shortage.

The area is safe with a guide and no one was hassling any of the tourists.

Depending on the weather there can be some good photos of colourful laundry hanging from the wires.

There are some Chai stands and packaged snacks around the area. Toilets are basic use at minimum. Sandals are footloose and fancy free but in the side streets of India remember everything is exposed to your feet....everything. I would suggest sneakers here.
