“elegant food menu & excellent wines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Vinoteca is a wine & tapas bar in Mumbai. It's one of my favorite places. It has a great selection of wines from around the world. The food is also good - the Quinoa salad is a stand-out for me, as is the Cabernet Sauvignon gelato. they are very reasonably priced for the quality of the food.

“Great wine collection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

Vinoteca is promoted by Sula wines who are the largest wine manufacturers in India .The cuisine is Spanish and the collection of both Indian(Sula) and imported (French,Italian,Spanish,Australian,Chilean,US) wines is pretty wide ranging.

Its well located on Anne Besant Road in Worli,(close to the Atria Mall ,on the opposite side, after Poonam Chambers, dont turn left for the Sea Link - go straight below the flyover. Its on the left).Next to Ivy.

The premises itself isnt too spacious but is well done up.Make sure to have a reservation.

Being a novice as regards to Spanish cuisine,I left the choice to Silvia, who is Spanish and is the author of Vinoteca's menu . She is very helpful and her choice was good. The servers are knowledgeable too.Make sure you discuss the wine pairings with the food to have an enjoyable evening.Of course one need to know some specific terms of Spanish dining.

1)Tablas(chopping board) :Collection of small dishes on a platter and eaten as a main course.
2)Pintxos(literally spike) :Traditional snacks with a toothpick or skewer.Small slices of bread/crackers on which an ingredient like hummus, cheese or sauce.
3)Tapas (a lid): Variety of snacks/appetisers .Cold(Olives & cheese) or hot(such as chopitos-batter fried squids) ,meatballs ,mushrooms etc. There is a wide variety and the helpings are small.

The Cheese Tabla (platter of Hummus, cheese, olives and tomatos, served with bread and crackers) and Berenjena rellena(minced lamb cooked with herbs and tomato sauce and layered onto a roasted eggplant) were well recommended.Torres Coronas 2010 Spain went well with the food.(The Sula Brut & Reisling are recommended from the Sula range)

There is a lunch buffet too.

Trifle pricey(since the servings are small) but a good menu. The price of the wines range from moderate to pricey.Make sure you have the house wines, some of them are really good.(i love late harvest Sula Chenin Blanc- a sweet , dessert wine)

A nice place for wine lovers.Well worth a visit.
