Punjabi food is now a commodity. Manyi restaurants offer Punjabi Cuisine with varying degrees of success. We had dinner at the Punjab Grill just by chance as all the wandering around Palladium mall made us really hungry. So -first impressions were "Wow- nice decor but must be expensive". After sitting down, checking out the menu definitely proved beyond doubt how pricey this restaurant was (Rs 350+ taxes) for Dal tadka!!!! Anyways, we decided to give it a go. I would like to say - we were not disappointed.
The food (Butter chicken, Non -veg platter, Dal Tadka, Panner - standard punjabi dishes) were all superb. The spices were just right and not overbearing and so was the oil content. The Indian Breads platter is a good option for large gatherings. Food was sufficient for for all of us (Six ppl). Service was great. Decor is lovely. And the water glasses were huge Goblets that children had fun drinking from. All in all, a wonderful experience.
A word of caution however, the restaurant charges "Service Charge" of 10% on the bill total (w/o taxes) as compulsory tip. How legal is this, I don't know, but with this, you end up paying almost 27 percent extra (from the bill amount). That One star rating downgrade is just for that!!
