Owner description: India's most beautiful railway station is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with stained-glass windows, towering spires, domed arches and buttresses and pillars with animal images carved into them.

“St Pancras in India”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

The outside of this building is magnificent, modelled after St Pancras Station in London. Inside is not so well looked after. The number of commuters using this station is staggering, the hustle and bustle depicts typical life in Mumbai. Don't visit Mumbai without watching the world go by here

“Example of the best in British architecture”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

A very imposing building, leaves you nostalgic about how well the british built their public buildings and what a mess the present newee govt buildings are.

“Trains are born here”

Great and nostalgic experience visiting the station. Been a long time, but the history and appearance are enduring.

“Nice European Style Building, Busting Inside.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

This building would be nothing to look at for most Europeans as every major city in there has a building like this.

Indoors there is a mass fluidity of people shuffling to a from work. While the population of India has grown rapidly the transportation system has grown slowly.

A few minutes inside and out will complete this tourist stop. If you come by at rush hour times it will be almost impossible to set foot inside the terminal.

One is able to get some photos of the trains departing and arriving the stations with the locals hanging outside the door-less trains and sometimes even on the roof.

Keep an eye on your belongings in this very crowded area.

“Grandest Railway Station Building”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST), earlier known as Victoria Terminus (VT) and even now fondly mentioned by Mumbaikars by its old name, is hands down the grandest railway station building in India.
The architecture is grand, one feels one is going inside a museum, palace or a cathedral. It is always crowded, always hustle bustle of people. The station connects the central railway line and the harbor lines of Mumbai's lifeline, the local trains. Long distance trains also operate from here.
