It all went wrong from the booking. We were told the weren't any airport transfers available, only in the ridiculously expensive 'executive car' at 7,000r. When we declined that they miraculously found us an air conditioned car at 3,000r. That's £41 for a 15 minute airport transfer.
And the car was late arriving.
Check in was ok, we agreed to pay the £38 per night upgrade to have a 'room with a window where you can walk out into the garden' and free internet access and free transfer to the airport.
Trouble is there was no garden access, and no open window. We'd been conned big time. When you have a complaint to make a complete lack of English overcomes the staff.
Despite paying the £38 upgrade I still had to pay for 6 pages of b+w printing in the business centre.
Our luggage took 2 hours to travel one floor to our room.
Left my dry cleaning with them at 5pm for 3 hour express service. Explained i needed the garments back at 7.30 am for a business meeting. They returned at 9am after 2 calls to remind them.
The room was nice enough but all the most important spot lights were broken, no shaving light in the bathroom, no reading light in the bedroom.
Don't even get me started on the pool. It looks lovely on the website. Forget it, that pool is for the apartment guests. Hotel guests have access to a 2ft deep pool at the side of a busy access road on the ground floor.
You expect more for what was £300 a night in the end.
This hotel also has an awful location. If you know the geography of England then imagine staying in Watford when you have business in central London. It's a good 2 hour taxi ride to central Mumbai in the rush hour.
My tip? I would stay at the Taj hotel if i visited Mumbai again. We didn't see the rooms but the Taj reception and bar were lovely. We dined there one evening and had a beautiful Lebanese meal, lovely ground floor bar with outside drinking area (rare in Mumbai).
I'd give the Grand Hyatt a wide berth. Very disappointing for the money they charge,
