“Great location, friendly and attentive staff, lovely food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Stayed in the Leela because of it's location close to the airport (10 minutes). Thankfully it is far enough away to not hear the planes at any time. Staff are very very welcoming when you first arrive and personally show you to your room asking if you have any questions and showing you around. The hotel is a little dated as it was built 30 years ago, but it has stood the test of time and is still very beautiful, thankfully the bits that needed it have been renovated.

The rooms are of a good size with a lovely bathroom that has obviously been changed recently. The desks even have plug adapters built into the back of the desk so whatever country you are from there is always power for your electronic essentials! All the usual amenities, plus slippers which is always a bonus. Free bottle of water and apples in the room on arrival.

The pool area is large and spacious with huge trees growing around it to give some natural shade (there is still plenty of space for sunning ones self though!) There are bars around the poolside and even a fountain with coy carp swimming. The bars and restaurants are lovely and there are 6 to choose from so plenty of choice. The room service is also very extensive and quite quick.

It's a long drive into the centre of Mumbai about an hour from the hotel, but the business district is very close by. Overall a lovely hotel in a great location, very much enjoyed my stay here.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the pool, the other rooms look out to a office block and it's not the n...

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

Over the last years I have stayed several times at The Leela Mumbai . Both with my family and by myself and have even taken friends with me. They have a pickup and a drop off service to and from the airports. The Check-in time consuming and there has always been delay in find my reservation. Invariably I have had to show the e-mail print out for confirmation. Unlike European 5-Star hotels you do not have to tug your own luggage to your rooms. There is a porter doing that for you. The lobby/cafe is very loud...so loud that normal conversation can only be held at if you do not have a sore throat. The reason being a "waterfall“. All our business dining was done later on in the club area. The breakfast is excellent and beats many European luxury hotels any day. The food and the services are much above average the rooms are clean and the bath with the double showerheads just fab. The "eco-thoughts" with as little plastic as possible in the rooms exceeds the European standards. I did not see any PE-bags in the dustbins etc etc. The morning newspapers are delivered without charge. The pool area is wonderful but the water too warm to be refreshing. It has too much of chlorine as well. The staff is a polite. The spa area needs a bit of a clean-up. the laundry service functions better than in European hotels. I will never understand, why, in many Indian hotels they have to have a separate reception and a cashier. The check out can be cumbersome because you first go to the reception and then to the cashier. It is the porter, the friendly waiters, the ever so polite staff that make this hotel different from the hotels in Europe. I like this hotel but I wish and I would appreciate if they had a more transparent costs structure for the room’s reservations and the club.

Room Tip: Go for Indian food. And ask them to keep your bills ready a hour before check out.

Awesome hotel, awesome rooms, awesome pool, awesome breakfast, everything was great.
In terms of cleanliness, the problem really is that it is India, and so the cleaning standards of the staff cleaning the bathrooms is not very high, but if you ask them to clean the toilet again or remove the mold from the shower, they will do so (if mold is there, just ask them to clean it and you will get new silicon all over the bathroom!).
I went on business and so my employer paid, so not really sure if it is a good value or not, but in terms of everything else, it IS a real 5* hotel!
Just as a side note, do not be fooled by the pictures of the surroundings which show beautiful greenery surrounding the hotel... this is of course FALSE as it is Mumbai, so all the surroundings outside of the hotel includes slums, people living in the streets, and trash...

If you are going on holiday, I do not recommend the hotel as it is very far away from everything, it takes over an hour to reach downtown... on the other hand, I do not recommend mumbai AT ALL for tourism!

I stayed at this hotel due to a delay on United Airlines.
The rooms were very comfortable, and had all the expected amenities of a 5 star hotel.

Breakfast was absolutely excellent. The hotel had a nice pool and a two story gym with all modern machines for a good work out.

Service was average compared to my previous stay at the Grand Hyatt Mumbai.
The shopping arcade was not very impressive.

As others have written ,the BMW pick up really sets up the bar and make you feel special and invited ! The staff is excellent and always eager too help . The rooms are on the smaller side but the shower experience is amazing . The breakfast spread is good . The bakery items could have been better .
Will definitely want to stay again !

From the moment I was met at the fiasco that calls itself Mumbai Int’l Airport until the moment the air conditioned BMW dropped me off again for more torture at the hands of the airport “staff” I was completely satisfied with everything and everybody at the Leela. It seems pointless to try to begin to explain any of the individualities. I can’t think of one “be careful of” or one “try to avoid”. I wouldn’t try anywhere else now, I can’t believe it would be better and might significantly worse. Ah - it's not in the centre ot the city - but then again I didnt want all that smog and noise.

Stay at this hotel every time we travel in and out of India. 7-8 times a year.
It's in great proximity to the International Airport, CSIA. Less than 5 min by car. About 20 minutes to domestic.
Room service i good, clean rooms. Great service. Good breakfast. Child friendly. Friendly staff.
The best feature at the hotel is by far the shower. Amazing!
