The Renaissance Mumbai Hotel is not only a wonderful hotel overlooking the beautiful Powai Lake but offers the best in guest services. All staff are very pleasant and courteous. Manan, from the front desk went above and beyond to assist me during my stay. I can't thank him enough for his assistance. I would recommend this hotel to all and if you need anything ask for Manan!! While the hotel had attractive features notably the pool and reception areas, and a large and well equipped gym, there were enough problems to make me feel as though this was well below normal Renaissance or Marriott standards. While the food seemed good I was one of several in my group who became ill in the hotel. I was also one of two people who suffered credit card fraud after checking in with my card. To the credit of the Hotel Director he waived my charges in compensation but the upset was considerable. Staff seemed friendly but often inefficient - I always had to ask 2 or 3 times to get the bill in the restaurant or coffee at breakfast. My room was OK though with a bizarre inconsistency over the number of towels left each morning but colleagues had to change rooms several times because of problems. With better staff training I think this can be of the expected standard but it's not a hotel I would return to.

i stayed here for 10 days during soem official work and i must say that the hotel is great.
the rooms are very mod and extremely clean. ..... huge property and looks great from mumbai standards..... the area is also most posh area and near by is hira nandani where good fodo joints are available.

I have stayed at this hotel about five times and it is always good. My recent stay was no exception. Get a room overlooking the lake. The staff are courteous and professional and the food is excellent. Poolside is very relaxing and you are far from the hustle and bustle (and noise) of South Mumbai. Situated fairly close to the airport but not on the flight path, this is a great Marriott property.

I stayed here for a conference this month, hotel is located in Powai not very far from the airport, hotel is overlooking a beautiful Powai lake, check in was not that smooth, it was ok, I was given a room in the 1st floor which happened to be a smoking room, when I requested for a change response was not that great. Finally I got the room changed to different floor with help from MR.PRAMOD who was on duty, he was quite helpful in changing the room. Hotel has rundown a bit, they have tried redoing in parts. Overall experience was ok. Food was very good. Breakfast had a good spread.

Room Tip: Request for lake view rooms. Has very good view of lake and Powai buildings

Renaissance has been located in the admist of the powai lake in mumbai. Its always a pleasant and a comfortable stay here. The quality of buffet is yummy. The rooms are spacious with all the facilities. I would recommend this to everyone as it is one of the peaceful place in the crowded mumbai.

Mein Aufenthalt im Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel war leider weit davon entfernt gut zu sein und entspricht nicht dem Marriott-Standard. Auf den ersten Blick sieht alles sehr gut aus, aber die Fassade bröckelt sehr schnell. Insbesondere der Preis ist für die gebotene Leitung unangemessen.

Die wichtigsten Punkte waren:

1) Sicherheit des Fensters, d. h. die Glasscheibe war nicht richtig in dem Rahmen befestigt. Ich konnte die Scheibe mit meinen kleinen Finger ca. 1-2 cm bewegen. Mein Zimmer war im 7. Stock! Mehrere Meldungen (mündlich/schriftlich) bei der Rezeption und dem Concierge blieben alle ohne Antwort. Ich bin mir nicht sicher was passieren würde, wenn jemand gegen die Scheibe stolpert.
Neben der Sicherheit verursachte es einen höheren Lärm von außen, da durch die defekten Dichtungen kleine Tiere (so etwas wie Ameisen) in das Zimmer kamen.
2) Beim Einchecken wurde ich über mehrere tolle Angebote informiert und erst zum Schluss wurde mir völlig selbstverständlich offenbart, dass der Mehrpreis hierfür 3.500 INR beträgt. Die Zeit hätte man sich sparen können.
3) Das Gitter der Klimaanlage war sehr dreckig.
4) Es funktionierte nur eine Steckdose im ganzen Zimmer einwandfrei.
5) Am Pool gab es nicht genügend Liegen. Obwohl ausreichend Platz vorhanden war, hatte das Personal keine weiteren Liegen.
6) Die vorhandenen Sonnenliegen und Auflagen waren sehr verschmutzt (Hinterlassenschaften von Vögeln).
7) Es gab eine Vogelplage, die regelmäßig im Tiefflug über Pool und Liegewiese flogen und sich auf übriggebliebenes Essen stürzten (es waren schwarze Raben ähnlich wie beim Hitchcock-Klassiker „Die Vögel“).
8) Beim Auschecken wurde mir offeriert, dass es ein tolles Angebot des Hotels sei, dass man per Kreditkarte auch in Euro zahlen kann. Nach einer kurzen Frage wurde mir der Kurs mitgeteilt, der ca. 6 % schlechter war als der aktuelle Tageskurs (die gesparten Gebühren betragen 1,5 %). Das ist nicht wirklich aufrichtig und der Versuch mehr Geld zu verdienen.

Es gab noch eine Vielzahl anderer Punkte, die ich hier nicht vollständig aufführen möchte.


Es gibt aber auch positive Aspekte:
- Das Frühstück war sehr gut.
- Das Personal war sehr freundlich.







I stayed in the Renaissance Mumbai Convention Centre Hotel. My experience was far away from being sufficient and does not meet the Marriott Standard. First it seems to be very nice and good but with the second view the façade starts crumbling quickly.

Most relevant issues were:

1) Safety of the window, i.e. the glass was not properly fixed in the frame. I could move the glass with my little finger approx. 1-2 cm. My room was on 7th floor! I told this the concierge twice and also send an email to you (all without any reply). I am not quite sure what would happen if someone would stumble against the window.
Beside the safety, it also causes problems with the noise from outside as the seals were also defect and small animals (something like ants) could enter the room.
2) When arrival I was informed about certain special features and at the end it was stated that this requires 3.500 INR extra per night, which should be stated in advance (wasting of time).
3) The lattice of the A/C was/is very dirty.
4) Only one socket available in the room that works properly.
5) At the pool there were not enough sun beds. Although there was sufficient space, the staff had no further sun beds.
6) The sun beds were dirty (bird droppings).
7) The number of birds flying across the pool area and looking for food was very high and give the feeling of a Hitchcock movie (“The birds”)
8) When checking out it was mentioned that as a special offer of the hotel to debit my credit card in Euro so that I can save some fees for foreign payments. The fees for foreign payment are normally 1.5 %, whereas the exchange rate you offered was approx. 6 % less than the current rate. This is not really sincere and the only target is making additional profit.

There were some other smaller issues (e.g. small hole under the carpet (re bend risk) on the main corridor, etc.), which I do not want to mention in detail.


There were also some positive aspects:
- The breakfast was very good.
- The staff was very friendly.
