“a brief and positive stop over experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

The cruise, which we were taking, embarked from Mumbai, and this hotel was part of our cruise package. This cruise and trip was one of many of our year long celebration adventures in honor of 50 th Wedding Anniversay To our dismay because of delayed connections, we arrived late- so spent a few hours there to get refreshed and have breakfast. Concerned about drinking the water and eating the food turned out to be just a concern. The wait staff were pleasant and helpful.
The Hotel desk staff were helpful to insure that our luggage was safely stored and immediately available for our noon departure.
The Hotel is a contrast in distinctions between its presence and that of the physical area surrounding it. With security at the entrance, we found a beautiful hotel while just outside of its gates were people living in shacks. Learning that the airport is in the midst of expansion and overhaul, we understood that the hotel and its presence is premature to what's to come. The outside grounds are nicely landscaped and pleasing to the eye. We were advised by hotel staff not to walk in the local area because as we saw, the streets were in disrepair. We were and felt safe, though we didn't walk too far from the hotel. . .
This was an opportunity to see a city being upgraded and understand the plight of those who are being uprooted to make way for change. While our experience was brief, it was an orientation to what was ahead.

The Lalit is all you would expect from a 5 star. Clean, comfortable rooms, friendly service and incredibly expensive internet. Why is it that only 5 star hotels charge for internet these days? I would rate this hotel a 4, but I'm giving it only a 3 as the expensive internet makes me feel cheated.

I spent two days this week at the Lalit Mumbai the Hotel is looking rather old tired and out dated but the staff are welcoming and try Hard living in Europe I have the best of both worlds when it comes to hotels ,I was hopping for the same when I came to the Lalit , but found the hotel rooms rather out dated and in need of some attention . The outlets are great 24/7 food is really good and of a iNTERNATIONAL quality ,but again the restaurant needs some life pumped back into it what it lacks in amenities it makes up for in food ...., my second night I ate at the Trends restaurant What a experience the food was Fantastic I also got too meet the Hotels Exe.chef Allan Limmer great food and a real nice man/chef to chat too .Its a shame that the Hotel has such a great Chef and Food but lacks the attention too the fitting out if it was not for the food I believe the Hotel would have a lot more to worry about.I hope on my next visit in March next year the F and B will be upgraded and the roos would have a fresh look to them .

Room Tip: Rooms on the outer side of the hotel stay away from lots of issues

This is a great hotel, one of the problems to me is that there is nothing around here, on the other hand it is very close to the airport, however, while the rooms are very good size and very clean I still can not get it why all these 5 stars hotels charge for Wi-Fi it is crazy!!! when you consider the cost of Wi-Fi and room cost then the cost is really high, still not a bad place, I would however try another hotel next time

Hotel is quite expensive for India but clean, close to the airport, with good internal restaurants a nice fitness room and a beautiful swimming pool.

Comfortable bed, slightly noisy the AC fan.

It's a good choice for business and a good location for a meeting with customers.

The hotel only miss his target in some details of guests management: it is missing the proactivity to make the small extra effort to make you feel more important than the hotel where you stay (i.e. they care the hotel is very good for the hotel itself, not for your wellbeing).

In any case a good choice.

We have stayed at the Lalit a few times now - both before and after its association with the Intercontinental group. Of the approx 7/8 times we have stayed there, only once we have had a bad experience ( in july 2012) but they really made up for it on our return to the hotel at the end of our trip.

this time we stayed there for 1 night on arrival and 1 night on depature from India. Excellent service all round - from airport pick up and drop, reception, conceierge staff, rooms, breakfast and the rejuve spa - no complaints and highly recommend.

We paln to go again in january and will probably stay there again - subject to them giving me good rates in view of my regular custom!!

Room Tip: If affordable, go for the club room - worth it for those extra touches e.g complementary nuts, Fruit...
