“Tasty south Indian Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Have a full fledged south Indian food on a plantain leaf. Rasam is good, Papad is good and Beeda (paan) with copra stuff and cloves is a must have.

“A (hunger) haven for many, including I in the yore..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013

Caveat: have been a customer for almost 2½ decades, so there is a possible bias creeping in the review.
Food: besst in Matunga, which in turn is the best suburb in Mumbai for south Indian fare.
Ambience: huh? Sorry, what? Not a place for the ambience-minded.
Service: in a flash. At times your order is served almost by the time you have finished placing the order! Normally, you can count the time lag between order and serving in seconds.
Food taste: AWWWWWsome! Very very tasty.
Benefits: one of those rare, if not the only, restaurants in Mumbai that still give unlimited chatni and sambhar, of good quality, and yet, generously so! You have to ask them to desist from serving any more chatni/sambhar, lest you end up wasting food (a strict no in my dictionary!)
For the uninitiated: the moment you enter this 24-seater restaurant, (not if these 24 are overweight), you grab a seat that you can spot. Don't wait for a better one, else you shall keep waiting. The person clinginly sitting next to you, if not a student from one of the schools or colleges nearby, may be the sporsts players or enthusiasts from the maidan/gymkhana nearby. Or, someone who may have driven to the restaurant in his Fiat taxi (so he is possibly a taxi driver), or in his Merc S-class or BMW 5-series, you would possibly never know.
Suggestion: everything is good, order just about anything from the very limited menu. But, DON'T forget to wash it down with the filter coffee.
Summary: For Mumbai visitors, especially those on a tight budget, and who would like to try some good south Indian food this is a great bet! For me, regardless, am gonna be a customer for life!

“Best of South Indian !!!”

The perfect blend of taste and price. Very good service. You should ask them to stop serving, if you really don't want to waste some food. Home away from home minus people...

“Not just a restaurant, an institution!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

The taste of their food can only be rivaled with their spirit to serve. Its one place where you could be sharing your table with one of the richest people of the city on one side & a cab driver at the end - both relishing their food with equal fervor..
Please visit them for best idli chutney in this city..
