Welcome to traditional, Indian vegetarian thali dining! Welcome Revival! This time with an extra organic touch added to appeal to all those calorie conscious foodies out there!
Reaching the place which is situated in the bylanes of Crawford Market does take a while for first-timers in the area. But once inside, the wonderful ambience (especially the walls) and the smiling faces of the servers will have you forget the ordeal! I really loved the concept of the sandalwood water handwash offered to each guest individually at table, at the beginning and end of the meal. Makes you feel Maharaja-like!
Food is served in bronze utensils keeping the traditional touch intact. The thali boasts of 30 items being served daily, most being Gujarati and Rajasthani cuisine, with a few items of other Indian cuisines added too. Not to forget the wonderful welcome drink made of tulsi and served in a kullad and the very refreshing Chaas! The most innovative of all was the dessert - Apple jalebis! Simply out of the world!!! Special mention needs to be made that the food was completely made in pure ghee and nowhere could we find traces of oil dripping out. Very commendable! Of the few things which needed improvement were the dal and kadhi whose sweetness needed to be toned down a bit. Also, the LCD screens on each table which displayed the menu for the day needs to be properly updated with the food actually served on the table. Another suggestion would be to add pictures of the food along with the details given. Interesting concept though!
Have been there 2-3 times now since its revamp as Revival and I've never been disappointed! Three Cheers!!!
