This hotel is in Thane district approx 20Km north of Mumbai - the area around the hotel is pretty rough and not at all for tourists however for business travellers this hotel is like an oasis in the middle of chaos. The staff are very friendly and helpful, most speak good english or will at least make an attempt.
The whole area is being developed, the roads are disastrous and the traffic terrible. The hotel has lots of building work inside and out although this wasnt a problem. Once you get over the shock it is ok. set your expectations low - this is not London or New York. The hotel tries hard and the quality of the staff make up for any issues. Dont expect 4star luxury - its just not like that.
I stayed in the Regal suite and a double room - the suite was pretty big and had all the usual features however the double room was also fine. i wouldnt bother paying the extra for the suite, the double rooms are ok. go for a pool view room if you can - better than the view over the room which is pretty noisy.
The restaurant is great - the waitress is fantastic and very helpful. Huge range of food from local curries to fish and chips. They will cook almost anything you want, this was useful if you dont like your food too spicy. Food was freshly cooked and good quality. Had no stomache problems during my stay!!
There is a pool and gym, i didnt find the gym but the pool is big and clean. Strangly there are no sun loungers but lots of chairs so no problem really. Also, some times are restricted to women only so check first.
The Thane area is not for tourist - you need to be in south mumbai for tourist stuff. if you are in Thane on business then this is a great hotel. i would stay here again.
Tip: trraffic is unbelievable. As the hotel to pre-book your taxi from the airport or you could get ripped off. Allow a couple of hours to get to the airport just in case.
Tip2: take tea, coffee and powdered milk - you cant get fresh milk anywhere. there is a little supermarket over the road where you can get supplies including uht milk. rooms have fridges so this is ok for tea.
Tip3: take cold milk to breakfast - cereal is served with boiling hot milk! dont ask for tea unless you know you like it - it is pretty weird stuff. go for black coffee no sugar, that was ok.
Tip4: the supermarket over the road has crisps, biscuits, tea, uht milk etc.... prices are really low so worth getting a few supplies in.
