“nice crew”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

I stay 3 days at Travellers Inn in January 2013.
The hotel is modest but clean.
I was with my boyfriend and we lost our luggage at airport, the hotel crew was very kind with us, they help us calling the airport and speak with the office for our luggage, they reserve us a taxi to go to the airport and find our luggage. they also help us to make an indian mobile number.
They also reserve a train for us, so we could't make the line :)
I can recommend them :)

Same as lokirune below our room looked OK at first but soon we noticed more and more things, I will list them

1. Room smelt of toilet and mildew
2. Room was tiny
3. Room opposite reception so the door bell rings with travellers appearing in the night and their light outside shines into the room. Oh and the staff peer into our room every time we enter or leave.
4. Room was stuffy
5. Air con did not work
6. Hot water was tepid and best
7. FREE WiFi means ONLY between 08:00 - 23:59 if you ask them about this they will say 'WiFi closed'
8. Tiny window with no natural light

I've heard you can pay cheaper in the area for better but with the limited time I had in Mumbai I let this one slide.

Budget backpackers look elsewhere! You can do better in Colaba, I believe in you.

Room looked ok at first, but it was small, smells like a toilet when it close and was stuffy enough so I couldn't sleep more than an hour even though I was really exhausted.
I should say I don't know any other place in Mumbai so this might be a good place comparing to others, but to me, it was much worse than 600 rs double room in panjim, Goa and more than three times more expensive!(Panjim also more expensive than other city)
Most of all, their friendly service impressed me in a bad way. We were exhausting and realized that they told us the wrong price for us in a reservation call. we told them we are 3 people and ask the price. After we checked in, they told me there is extra fee(400rs) for extra person. We thought that price included extra fee, but it wasn 't. It's not a big deal, but at least we want for them to be sorry for us. They told us it was the other person and they don't know. It was disappointed.
they are just working like a part time job. It is not bad, but not good, either.
I heard there are a lot more better accomodation in colaba in a cheeper price. So don't pick here unless there is no place and you have no money.
If you want to stay here, because it's near CST, then you should know where exactly CST is and just walk! Otherwise, the driver will make you pay more than the average.
It's not so bad in a objective point of view, but to me it was a nightmare and I am sure it could' ve someonelse's, too.

Basic rooms but good value in terms of Mumbai prices. Breakfast is simple but a nice added extra. Staff are very helpful if you require any advice. Would recommend the slum tour organised by the hotel, as this was really interesting. Although the hotel is about a 20 minute walk from Colaba I liked the location as it was quieter. Having the Universal cafe next door is also really handy. Only downsides would be having to stand in corridor to use Internet and the fact that hot water didn't always work.

Although very basic, we enjoyed our stay here. The rooms have air con, bathroom is not amazing but is sufficient. The simple breakfast saves you paying for 3 meals in a day. The staff are friendly and happy to help. Good location. Not as close to colaba as some may want.

We stayed for one night in January. Our room was basic, but linen and bathroom were clean and there was hot water. The staff were also friendly and helpful about where to go in the area. It is located near the Fort area, which makes for a nice walk to some main attractions nearby. Overall, a good backpacker or short stay accommodation.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

We stayed at Hotel Travellers Inn for 2 nights at the end of Jan 2013. This was our first stop in India & didn't know what to expect from the rooms. Like other posts have mentioned already our prepaid taxi from the airport didn't have a clue where the hotel was and it was quite daunting driving through the neighbourhood at 1am whilst the driver asked the locals for directions. I would recommend printing off a clear map for the driver. In the end the driver rang the hotel and we got there eventually. Check-in wasn't that great, the reception is up a narrow staircase and we struggled getting our backpacks up the stairs (with no help). We ordered breakfast for 8:30 the following morning but it didn't arrive. In the morning however we met Mohit who changed our view of the hotel. He was extremely helpful, giving us a map of the city & highlighting the main tourist spots. Positives about the hotel: clean basic room, free wifi (yes on the landing but a great way to get chatting to other travellers), location, Mohit. Only real negative about the hotel was that we didn't have any hot water for the 2 nights we stayed there (however after having being in India for 5 months we realise this isn't a guarantee anywhere) . A good budget option for a stay in an otherwise expensive city.
