“Reliable, clean hotel - no point trying local budget hotels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2012

Ginger comes across as a budget hotel. They are running a discount till March 2012, which is perfect. The hotel is neat, clean and decently maintained. Rooms are just right in size - not spacious by any standard. BEWARE! The call center says rooms are 220sq ft, but they are just 160sq ft in size.

Personally, I didn't find it worth it if not for the discount.

Other important caveats:
1. There is no bell boy. They however provide luggage trolleys in the parking lot which you can carry to your rooms
2. Restaurant's room service is limited. Eg. You can't order Roti-Sabzi in the rooms. There is a limited menu consisting of rice, sandwiches, beverages and pasta. Neither do you get a ala-carte option for this. Indian food is for buffets only
3. No drinking water service to room. But there is a water filter on every floor where you can refill bottles. You do get a complementary 1L mineral water bottle every day though.
4. Miniature LCD TV - why do you care anyway?

All this said, the staff is very courteous (who in Mysore is not?!) and helpful.
All in all a great place to stay. If you are looking for a decent, reliable, no-frills, comfortable stay in Mysore, don't even try elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for bigger rooms.

The best thing about this facility is its location. Quite near to the Zoo and Mysore Palace. The rooms are too good. We did not expect much of amenities inside the room, however were surprised to find mini fridge, hot water kettle with coffee, tea, etc...a LCD TV and a silent A/C. They have a Cafe Coffee Day that serves excellent coffee through out the day. Would definitely recommend for a comfortable stay.

On my trip to mysore, i haven't pre booked any hotels and needed to search for some hotels. I asked some localites regarding some cheap and best hotels and most of them guided to hotels in vijayanagar and all but it was only cheap not good. Cheap means they also had rent about 600-650 but the quality was so bad and and fortunately i remembered ginger hotels and just searched on my mobile and got their address and contacted them. They informed me because of some offers they are offereing rooms for Rs. 999 and i found it good and went to vasant mahal and took a room there. The hotel location was ok and the staff were also good and cleanliness everything were also very good. But, i doubt whether i will go their again if they lift their festive offers. On normal fare it will 3750 for single occupancy. The festive offer is upto March 31st. So, i think people who are going to mysore before 31st march should utilise this opportunity.

I booked to rooms in this hotel, rooms were small but still very clean. You can't compare to other hotels with room rates. Staff was courteous. I found food some what over pricy but value for money. They had decent variety in Lunch and Dinner. And breakfast was really nice. Service was pretty fast. I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who are seeking budget hotels in Mysore.

Though the thought of staying in a property which has practically no facilities was a bother, was pleasantly suprised at this property ! It value for money place and that too right in the heart of mysore.. walkable distance from the mysore palace, it has a good cafe coffee day outlet. Though the rooms are small, its managable for a short stay ! recommended for a break journey's into ooty / kerala side.. rooms are neat.. beds are good, rooms have a very small wall mounted TV..

Room Tip: Try to book and go, walk in's might not get u a room!

We had some great expectations of Ginger basis the review of other people. First off , it is not budget or economy by any standards though thats their claim to fame. They charge close to 3k for a room ( inclusive of taxes) that does not include breakfast and the double room is so small, you need to be really agile to move in the room ( there is no question of across the room, across ! where ??).The breakfast buffet is 150 plus taxes per person. So in effect if you are two people to a room, thats 3600. When we toured Mysore, we realised there were much better places with bigger rooms and much better service ( like Pai Vista) at this rate. The view from our room was really nice. But the staff at the reception have this " this is all you get here "attitude for most questions or queries. They have plastered the managers number everywhere, we had booked two double rooms and wanted to clarify something. We called the manager and he promised to call back, after consideration and we never heard back from him !!
Most of the requests that we asked the front desk was met with a this all you get , take it or leave it attitude. Can u believe that they have only one hair dryer ( rental 50 bucks) for the whole Hotel!
The things that are good : They have a pantry with water and an iron that the guest can use. so u dont need to buy bottles of mineral water.
Two: they have a microwave in which you can make your own food ( on the ground floor) ( no charge)
Three: Their travel desk is very good and we were lucky to have a courteous driver who took us to some nice places and tasty food joints.
Four: The room service food is limited but decent and not very pricy.
Last but not the least , I did write to Ginger Hotels ( feedback link on their site) and no response. Guess they dont care. Why am I not suprised.

Room Tip: The fourth floor rooms have a nice view. If you are not travelling with family and dont mind lack of...

We stayed here early January 2012, Rooms are OK, Clean, and reasonable. We stayed at the 2nd Floor not much of scenic view. Reception staffs are not much friendly, they only answer the questions by saying yes or no, doesn' give much details. They appear to be busy and not attentive to the customers. Considering the people of India especialy Mysore the staff are rude. I should say the house keeping in the second floor was realy good and helpful. We had breakfast included in our package, it was OK not much of western spread but reasonable indian food spread is available. any how if you want to pay it will about INR.158 (just above $3 USD). There is a cafe coffee day restaurent at the premises, little pricy but the service is good.
Pros: Walking distance to Palace,Zoo and many other atractions.Free wi fi.,a small Gym.
Cons: Staffs at the reception, Only one computer available most of the time reception people will tell you it is out of order.

Room Tip: I think second floor rooms are better
