“One of the best & clean Zoos seen in India”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Excellent planning of infrastructure & facilities. We couldn't imagine that a Zoo of this magnitude was placed in the Mysore city. It has many rare varieties of species on display. The animals showed no signs of trauma, laziness or captivity. The authorities has ensured that these animals feel themselves very much closer to nature. There's lots of walking to be done, if you intend to cover the whole zoo. The best option is to book an electric cart tour. The advantage is that the guide/driver will explain few facts & figures of the zoo and some specific animals. The view of the Cheetah was amazing.

Photographers - Please ensure you have a zoom lens, as most of the animals roam away from the best view-able areas, just in case you require close-up pics of them.

“Clean & Plastic Free”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2012

Its really great to info that now the zoo is plastic free and clean too. They have made rule that if anyone carry plastic water bottle, they will collect 10rs each and put a sticker on the bottle. If u return the bottle to the counter, ur money will be return.I really appreciate the effort they have made.99% of the people will return the plastic bottles and they can dump rather than throwing in and around.

“Good to go with kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Well maintained Zoo. One of the best in India. Neatly kept.. Try using a Buggy, it will save a lot of time and energy. No regrets if you cant get a Buggy if you are young and Energetic. But for Elderly people the buggy ride is a must.

“Old is Gold!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Last year during the Christmas vacation I went with my family for a short trip to Mysore. We went to see the Zoological garden popularly known as Mysore Zoo,very soon we found out that this is one of the oldest zoos in the world . It was established under Sri Chamaraja Wodeyar X, the king of Mysore in 1892.It is one of the main tourist attraction and is one of the most popular Zoo in Southern India. There are a wide variety of animals like Giraffe, White tiger, Elephants, white rhinoceros, zebras, Asiatic Lion and many more.. The Zoo has a small museum which exhibits the stuffed animals. There is a small library inside the Zoo.Competitions like painting and essay writing are being conducted from time to time by the zoo authority among the children to create awareness and love for animals.
My little girl loved the Giraffes and Elephants and we all enjoyed exploring the zoo and also got to see many beautiful birds .It is a must visit place for animal lovers and family with little kids they are sure to enjoy their ride.
