Recently stayed there along with family and it very well ruined our vacation. I am sure the excellent reviews are from friends and family of the promoter of this place. Any sane person would never rate this place excellent.

The rooms are old and dirty. Bathroom is horrible. There were feces-stains on the shower curtains! Lizards and cockroaches roaming around freely. Generator wouldn't work when the lights went out. Hallways are dark and dirty.

Staff is absolutely untrained and incompetent. Rude too to boot! Food would take 1 hour to arrive post-ordering; that too only after constant reminders.

It is also located in the middle of nowhere. Takes minimum 1 hr to get to Shimla Mall Road.

Put simply: JUST STAY AWAY!

This is the property to stay if you want to spoil your vacations. I stayed here with my family last week. We all had a very bad experience there. We took 3 rooms as we were 9 people in all. All 3 rooms were very bad. Rooms are stinking, small and dirty. The bathrooms are really dirty.
The food service is very slow. They usually take an hour to prepare your meal after you order.
The hotel has very less staff. The staff is also very dissatisfied with the hotel.
The location is also very bad. You have to climb up a long steep terrible road to reach the property. You should go in a rough SUV kind of vehicle to reach there.
Overall it was a very bad experience. Just not recommended.

After checking out from 4 star hotel In main shimla we were sent here by our travel agent as we wanted to be away from the city and frankly that 4 star is not even worth calling a 1 star.
We were not expecting much but the drive to place lifted our spirits.
On reaching the hotel we got a warm welcome that was much needed after our horrific experience earlier. The rooms are quite cozy and comfortable and the food is quite decent.
Onething that we realised was that when we are paying less than half the price of a five star, we should compromise our expectations accordingly. If you can tolerate minor issues, you will love this place. But if you want nothing but the best you should go to a five star but not the one we went to.

It was the worst of all the resorts I have seen, the tarrifs they demand and the services they give are not at all agreeable. We planed there for 3days and got out of that hotel after one horrible day. It was a bad start for our trip to shimla.........they dont keep the rooms clean nor the bed sheets are clean...we find hair all over the bed...coming to food once again I need to tell it was Jst horrible I am sorry to say this,....but still I dnt want People to get Bully with their fake makeup pictures of the hotel....

At first I would say if there was -rating, I will rate it -10 or more.
To start with the hotels maintainence is so terrible that you can even see the dust on the bed.
The hotel hardly has any people working for the hotel. My famly and me found a cardboard peace in the food, so now you can tell how terrible it is. We went there for 3 days but we left the hotel after the first night. The hotel also has a terrible manager how dose not care about his customers, for example we asked the manager to arrange us a car for the next day's morning at 9am, but after waiting a long time for the car he sent it at 11:30am.And after all fo that he starts fighting with us.

Room Tip: If you want to spend your holidays in a good room , don't go to whistling pines

i went with family and friends in the first half of june to simla and stayed at this place for 3 nights. when we reached there we were disappointed with the place but when we were coming back after staying there we were all smiles. heres my list of pros and cons of the place
cons
1. far away from shimla, 45 min to 1 hour drive. a con for those who dont like travelling daily and love to be near the centre of city
2. not well maintained rooms, window frames are old and rickety, approach road not well built and maintained
3. service can be very slow at times
4.bedding is of average quality
5. no toiletries andd daily problem with hot and cold water supply
pros
1. excellent food, excellent food and excellent food. if food is the thing u love the most this is the place to be. had the best kadhi, achari begain and many other north indian dishes
2. staff was receptive to our demands. though a bit reluctant initially when ever we asked for anything like a special dish in our dinner/breakfast or arranging for bonfire , they arranged for it
3. far away from hustle bustle of the city
4. excellent view and location. the surroundings are very green full of pine trees, very different from the concrete jungle of main shimla
5. rooms are quite spacious though
so this is good place for a foodie who wants to relax in the lap of nature, but not the right place for someone who wants to be very near the city centre and with the need for excellent services.
