“Beautiful Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2009

A beautiful hotel with amazing buffet breakfast/dinner.Rooms are very clean and all the requirements of the travelers are been taken care of.
Hotel is situated at the hill and is surrounded by pine trees. Moreover it is beautifully decorated with flowers all around the premises.

This was surely one of the hotels i stayed during my honeymoon period..Spa here is out of the world!!!

Our family trip was made spectacular by the East Borne resort. We had a very comfortable stay and were ravished with the services of the staff from day one.
Though we planned to visit some nearby places, but we decided to comfort ourselves within the hotel and enjoy the delicious food, the Spa treatments, and continuous entertainment with the indoor games. Throughout our stay we enjoyed a majestic view of the oak and deodar trees right there from the terrace of the room. The games were good enough to keep my kid busy all through the stay, though there was no playing room separately for kids. Even the collection of magazines at small sitting library was good pick for avid readers.
So, throughout it was a terrific trip coupled with lots of entertainment, peace, delicious cuisines, and wonderful hospitality.

For the price, very comfortable rooms, decent food, great views from the terrace and nice staff. We were told that this hotel used to be residence of some British army officer before India's independence and I think it has been maintained well over all these years. It is not a huge hotel and one can't expect all the extra facilities that come with a huge hotel but staying in such old properties has its own charm. When we went there, it had started snowing in upper hills of Shimla, so first concern was rooms should have decent heating. To my surprise, rooms had central heating and it worked great. Huge LCD TVs, comfortable beds and luxurious bathrooms made stay more than comfortable. Only downside to some may be its location, as it is about 2 Kms from town downtown (mall road) and so going there and coming back may become a bit of hassle in the late hours, though hotel has its taxis and best part is they provide 1 free drop and pickup each day. Highly recommended!

We stayed in this hotel quite some time ago. We believe, it has been since renovated probably. But anyhow, we would like to share our experience at this hotel.

The name itself is a misnomer. We couldn't find any resort like feel at all. The hotel is a small establishment situated far from the centre of Shimla (though the hotel does offer a shuttle to the mall road, the main bazaar or shopping road of Shimla). There was no parking area available for the guests. The small available area inside hotel gates was occupied by the hotel owner's cars. We had to park our car out in the open amidst building rubble, in a muddy area, overlooking a forlorn ravine. It was difficult to get to the car and more difficult to pull it out of the rut it was in.

The reception was a small area but the checkin was quick and easy. The room was bit small but cosy. The room had large curtained windows along one whole wall which overlooked a small flower patch and stone paved verandah. It was a good sight and a good relaxing experience to enjoy tea sitting besides the windows in a blissful Shimla weather. But one could see other rooms and directly have an unrestricted view of inside of many rooms if curtains were left undrawn. So, take care to draw the curtains if you want to have your privacy. The bathroom didn't have a bathtub and we had to make do with a bucket for bathing as the shower was very cold.

The breakfast was limited in choice but was good enough for us. It was served in a small room which was more like a lobby than a restaurant. The evening dinner buffet was served in an open air sitting area which could get very chilly in the evening.

As for the resort facilities, there were few which we could even consider. None of the so called resort facilities was good enough to make us spend some time there, leave alone a whole day. Only thing of note is a small "discotheque" where our little kid enjoyed dancing. The table tennis table and billiards room was again a small affair. It was ridiculous to see only about a feet separating the table tennis table from the walls.

Overall, it is an average hotel, good for honeymoon couples (take care to draw the curtains!!!) but better choices which are more better located at better rates are available.

This hotel has a nice small cosy and colonial feel on first impression. The reception staff are helpful and polite, the decor is tasteful. The rooms also have a nice style but have definitely seen better days, the electrics were dodgy with hair dryer, kettle someimtes working and sometimes not, hot water was intermittant and sheets had a few stains (they were clean but again had seen better days) The locks on the doors were old and difficult to operate. There was also a lot of building work being done on the patio with hammering all day long. Basically a bit of work to bring everything up to date and it would be a nice little place.
The big restaurant with large round tables was a bit imposing and as a single traveller made me feel a bit uncomfortable. The food was nice but not piping hot and as a result I did experience an upset stomach.
I tried an aryurvedic masage as they branded themselves as a spa hotel, but the 'health spa' was just a grubby room, a bit too cold and not particularly private with builders walking around outside the window.
The hotel is a bit set out on its own, they do offer a free drop off and pick up in town which I used many times but it is a 5 minute run to town and with little to keep you at the hotel I may as well have stayed somewhere closer to the centre.

we stayed in the hotel for one night and the experience was so horrible that we decided to review the hotel the very same day. From the security at hotel gates which won't open the gates (ofcourse guests do that) to the room service which will charge you for cheap chinese chewing gums that no sane man can think of popping into one's mouth.
At Front desk staff will take ages to check you out and treat guests like dirt. There was no electricity at stecth, no water in the morning and tv had no channels

Homeymoon Couples.... Its like a heaven for u. The property is at such a wonderful location that it takes ur breath away. The coffee shop in open space in the wood of Pine trees takes u to a different world all together. I think this hotel has got the best of amanities and brand new. Interiors are just awesome.
Rooms are very very spacious. The main coffee shop is very well decorated.
The food is good and provides a lot of variety. Its nothing less than a 5 star in real terms. U can also enjoy spa, massage and other natural therapies.
Do get up early morning to enjoy the pine forest beauty in the rising sun.
The rooms in the basement provide the utmost privacy and windows opening to a wonderful pine forest hills.
I suggest dont miss on this..... Else u will miss a great time.....
