I visited QBA with my wife on 4th Nov. and here is my review
1) Food: - Good, though could do better
Almost every restaurant in Delhi serves Indian & Chinese, and there are several Italian ones too. So we wanted to order something truly continental.
We ordered Mushroom & Lek Cream soup and Burnt Chicken chilli & garlic grill for Starters and Braised lamb and Chicken Supreme for main course.
> Mushroom soup: The soup was just ok, actually I found the soup rather light, perhaps too much water and it missed the rich viscous mushroom soup taste.
> Burnt chilli Chicken & garlic Grill: - Good. We liked this item, it was listed under Thai. We were warned about the taste by the honest waiter. But we liked the taste and the sauce. However it tasted more like Indian chicken tikka rather than Thai!
> Braised Lamb: Good - but was tad bit undercooked. This dish had generous proportions, even a foodie & a meat lover like me had a hard time finishing it. The dish is quite simple, lamb served on a layer of mashed potato and few capsicum/chillis on the top. The lamb was a bit chewey, perhaps it needed to be cooked just a couple of minutes more, but it was tasty ! Being a bengali, I know my meat, and the quality of the lamb was very good.
> Chicken Supreme: Ok to Good - The dish is a typical restro dish. two pieces of chicken fillet servered with jacket potato, mushroom and few vegetables. The skin of the chicken was cooked well and was crispy, but the inside was plain rubbery. I guess it was tad bit overcooked.
The idea of Jacket Potato in India is different than Europe, here it's simply boiled potato.
Veggies included few pieces of brocolli, babycorn and few beans and carrot pieces. I would have loved the portion of veggies to be little larger, but I aint complaining.
All, in all the food was good with the exception of Mushroom soup.
2) Service - Average.
I found the concept of service a little strange. I entered QBA at 2 PM, and asked the guy in charge for my reservation, he sorta complained in his tone by saying, My reservation was for 1.30, and I am late!!!! But they never called me up !.
In anycase, I had given them tentative times between 1 - 2 PM.
The in house service was good. Actually there were 3-4 waiters. One of them (boy - I forgot his name) was very honest. He gave his honest review about the Starters and the dishes. Other waiters were just like that, paying attention to some party / large gathering going around.
3) Ambience - Average:
I had heard a lot about QBA and that it's awesome, but I found nothing special in the ambience. Our seats were rather uncomfortable. Bar chairs and a table. Half of the time, I was afraid of falling off the chair, and there was no foot rest and my legs were simply hanging in the air. Other tables were reserved, and the 2nd floor - we were told was closed.
So, all in all an average to above average experience but I have had better food at places that are not ranked this high.
