“Impeccable South Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Dakshin is often considered a stalwart in the South Indian restaurant scene. Its reputation is well deserved, since the food, ambiance and service were absolutely spot-on! We went for lunch as a couple with a 4 year old kid. Before writing about their stellar food, I'd like to make a special mention about their service. Our child was treated so well, and made to feel almost like an adult (which is big thing with little ones!) that it did make the lunch special for her as well! The chef also sent a couple of complimentary kid-friendly dishes to our table for her. Now, coming to the menu- it is well designed to have a mix of authentic dishes as well as a few dishes with toned down spices, which suit the non-south Indian palate more. My husband, who's south Indian was happily surprised to find quite a few traditional dishes on the menu, which are usually not present in the restaurants. One of these is Kuzhi Paniyaram, tiny little idlis traditionally made in stone mould, and then deep fried. These were a hit with our child! A few more fantastic dishes were- Yetti Sukka (yummy spicy shrimps), Meen Moilee (beautifully cooked fish in silky coconut milk gravy) and Adai Pradhaman (an interesting & super sweet desert of jaggery & rice). Dakshin is a brillaint restaurant, and I can't fault it in any way. The location, interiors, hospitality & food are all a class apart! Will keep going back for more.

“Authentic South Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

It was a wholesome dining experience, everything from ambience to food and to service was flawless and adding to special dining experience.

Menu is quiet elaborate and all dishes we had were amazing and delicious, couldn't ask for more on that.

Appam and parotha were the best I had till date, as I am South Indian food lover had tried at various places but this one was undoubtedly the best I had.

“Fantastic South Indian Food and great service.......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Went to Dkashin under the Delhi Restaurant week with friends. The entire experience was brilliant. The lady who led our service was exceptional. She quickly understood our needs and proceeded to lay out a sumptuous meal for us. There were 4 of us and we got to taste almost everything on the Restaurant Week menu. The other staff who waited on us were courteous and prompt. The food was great. The lamb melted in the mouth, the appams were perfect, the chicken was delicious, and I could go on.....Overall a great experience on the food side, made fabulous by the amazing service lead by the lady there - I regret I didn't get her name to mention it here.

“Fantastic culinary sojourn through Southern India”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Was here as part of the Restaurant Week India initiative and had the 4 course set menu. We started off with sweet, tender coconut water which whetted our appetite. Next I ordered shrimps cooked in mustard and curry leaves with coconut shavings. The portion was huge and the shrimps were perfectly cooked and spiced. The next course of boneless mutton tempered with spices was wolfed down with soft appams. The service was fantastic and knowledgable. Desserts were milk based and not as good as the rest of the food as it seemed milk powder was used as a base.
Will definitely be back

“Sumptuous south Indian food experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Loved the food, the condiments and the atmosphere. Dis liked the restaurant being too busy and crowded. A quieter atmosphere would have worked well with the theme.
