A stone's throw from Karol Bagh metro, this hotel is well placed for transport. It has an adjoining buffet restaurant used for hotel breakfasts but also the general public, at which we had a good breakfast and dinner.
However in its primary role - somewhere you can sleep - this is not a good place to stay, especially if you're new to India.
A quick primer for newbies: Indian hotelier culture isnt always the quiet, trained, mindful experience you might expect in more western countries, or perhaps just not in this price range...
Traffic noises (a ceaseless beeping of horns) last until midnight, the hotels have single glazing, walls are thin and rooms and halls are clad in tiles making them into echo chambers. All buildings are built with airflow, not soundproofing, in mind. Staff aren't always trained and neither staff nor many customers seem to care about their own noise levels. Expect regular door slamming and furniture being pushed across tiled floors, late into the night.
The door buzzers for a room can be so loud in neighbouring rooms you have to open your our own door every time to double check, and room service orders continue well beyond midnight. Hotel staff start early and boisterously at around 6am, as does the traffic.
With all this in mind, at the Swati, conversation in corner suites in particular can be drowned out. With the lack of sound insulation and having windows on two sides of the room it was impossible to sleep more than 2 or 3 hrs a night. Try an get rooms further from the street.
Staff are pleasant and the room itself was perfunctory, but far from "deluxe".
The hotel proudly display their outdated 4-star trip advisor rating above the receiption and I'm sure this hotel will be perfectly adequate for some people, but it could come as a shock for those hoping for a more restful stay genuinely worthy of 4 stars. This is a 3 at best.
