“Couldn't fault the place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2015

We stayed twice and thought the room was great value. The location is perfect - near the station and right in the heart of the main bazaar. Had my best night's sleep in weeks! Check out the restaurant if you have time (expensive but delicious paneer tikka and chicken, skip the breads).

Good price and very well positioned next to the metro station RK Ashram Marg.
The room is clean with a nice and clean bathroom.
The rooftop restaurant is really nice with cold beer and nice cuisine.

My fiancée and I stayed here for three nights with friends. The hotel is right on the main bazaar in Delhi, which is a very exciting and lively place. Therefore the noise could be an issue but we loved it, it meant you were right in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

The staff were generally very useful but always pleasant. The rooms were comfortable and a good size. Our room had a balcony which looked out right on top of the main bazaar. The water from the shower was proudly stated as the only soft water in the area but this gave everything a weird feel. So take plenty of conditioner for the shower!

There are lots of tour organisers in the vacinity so getting around the city is not an issue. But definitely give the bazaar a morning on its own, the sheer number of little shops and trinkety places mean it's well worth a wander round.

All in all, a very comfortable stay.

The rooms were pretty nice, although they don't give you anything "extra", like soap/water/toilet paper etc until you ask for it. Wifi was bad. Location was alright, depends what you're looking for. The area is not very nice, but it is convenient.

After traveling across India I realized Metropolis was a pretty good hotel. The rooms were spacious and a lot nicer than what you can find for the same prize in other places. They also have a really nice rooftop restaurant, which serve really good food. Try the prawn curry! They also serve ice cold beer, which is amazing after a long day in the sun.

Room Tip: Get a room which is not located in the front part where you can hear the noise from the street.

This is one of those generic hotels which isn't particularly charming but also doesn't really have anything major wrong with it. It is very conveniently located, very close to a metro stop and a 15 minute walk to the main New Delhi railway and metro stains (the airport link stops at the New Delhi metro). Rooms were small but clean and comfortable although hot water was intermittent. Free WiFi is decent with a router in every room. We had some excellent Indian meals at the restaurant including a delicious Hyderabad style biryani.

First off, the good: The hotel restaurant is excellent. Great food, cold beer, quick service, acceptable atmosphere, if you can get over the deafening traffic noise from three floors below.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The beds are firm, there is a working safe, and tv, and fridge.

The bad: unless you are an experienced India traveller, you should be prepared for the location of this hotel. Pahar Ganj is a hellhole. The traffic noise is awful, honking day and night. The streets are filthy. Trash everywhere. Old Delhi is just a miserable place.
The room came with no amenities, no bottles of water, not even a soap!
The room was never cleaned during the three days I was there.
The wifi did not work. I mean it was on, you could log in, but not actually get a single email or website to load.

The ugly: My friend arrived at 6am, and had a reservation to check in later that day. He asked if it was possible to drop his bags in the room, if the room was open. The hotel manager said yes.
On departure; SURPRISE - he was required to pay for an extra night! A classic India ripoff. That's not how you get repeat business Metropolis.

Room Tip: Choose a room nowhere near Paharganj

There are some flaws with this hotel, but overall it is good. Beds are way to short for European people, could easily have been 30cm longer. Internet here is slow/not working, so don't expect to be using it too much. Service is good, but they take a lot in commission (for example to book you a taxi downtown.) Food at restaurant is good, and the breakfast opportunities are also good.
