The Hotel itself is of a very good standard, being brand new since December 2012, was one my main reasons for booking this hotel. The hotel itself didn't dissapoint. The check in was seamless after being stuck in rush hour traffic from the airport. The normal 45 minute drive took twice as long. My own fault, my flight arrived late and i left the airport at 5:40pm. The hotel pick up from the airport was excellent, I was in India with my family, my wife, my mother and 2 children and loads of luggage. The hotel arranged for one of their cars and a MPV vehicle to collect me from the airport. Although my flight was late by 2 hours the driver waited patiently at the airport.
I stayed for 2 nights Fri/Sat/Sun and found the rooms to be of a very good standard, the beds were comfortable, the hygiene and cleanliness of the rooms was very good. The bathroom was excellent, the shower was hot and powerful. The management had carried out all of my requests, as I had asked for 2 interconnecting rooms. The overall ambience and comfort of the hotel is very good. There are electronic safes in the rooms which I found very useful. Just be careful with the powerful shower as sometimes the base can't cope with all the water and sometimes overflows into the bathroom. The shower base needs to be raised.
The steam room in the gym area is excellent, although it opens a little late at 9am, just ask at reception to turn it on early shoul you desire. The outdoor pool looks nice, but they don't run it in winter. In summer I'm sure it will be great.
We had the complimentary buffet breakfast at The Promenade restaurant, which I thought had enough variety but could do with more western cooked breakfast items suc as bacon, waffles, baked beans etc for western palates. They had cerals, juices, fruit and other indian breakfast items. Eggs were available on order, but did take slightly long to arrive once ordered. One day it took 15 mins for an ommelete to arrive.
We had an evening meal at The Promenade which I thought was very nice and pleasant, the food was very good, compliments to the chef. The front house restaurant staff could be a littlt more attentive towards their guests at brakfast, instead of huddling around wit each other.
The hotel is quite well placed for Central Delhi, we headed out on Saturday morning and it took about 20-25 mins to reach India Gate. The traffic in Delhi can be horrendous, it's 20 times worse than London at peak hour. Even during the day and weekends it can be difficult to get around, the metro (underground) might be a wise choice.
The only one negative point about the hotel is it's immediate surroundings, which I must mention. When I booked the hotel direct on the phone, the staff did not mention the immediate surroundings, when I quizzed them about he hotel.
The hotel is surrounded on 3 sides by empty grounds. In the wedding season these grounds get converted into temporary marriage marquees. On the first night there were 2 weddings going on simultaneously and the noise was very loud. The noise was filtering into all of the rooms. Also in the corridor the noise was coming through the air conditioning vents. When I complained, I was reassured the music would be switched off by 10 -10.30 pm according to local laws. It went off about 11pm. On the Saturday, luckily there was no weddings. The only other downside is the view of a site which belongs to the metro where they carry out their works, but no noise. The 5 star Kempinski is just around the corner and I imagine in 5-6 years this area will be up and coming.
The manager Mr Choudary was very nice and accomodating and he actually called the police to have the music shutdown according to the law. I found Siddarth (general manager) very helpful and always aiming to please.
My checkout was quick and fast and my 2 vehicles to the airport were waiting.
Overall a very nice and pleasant stay and would highly reccomend to others, its new, everythings in excellent working order, its part of a international chain and you can't go wrong except for the weddings going on outside which is the only drawback. Get those stopped and I wouldn't have too much to moan about. N.B. If in Delhi, make sure you visit Akshardam Temple in the evening, the architecture and the whole place is out of this world. Amazing do not miss.
A special thanks to all the staff, keep up the good work, although your hotel is new, don't let your standards slip as they are excellent at the moment. And a special thanks to the General manager Siddarth for making us feel welcome.
