RARA AVIS- THE RARE BIRD
A perfect French food evening minus the attitude at the popular Restaurant in GK II. French Onion Soup was delicious, slightly low on onions (they are scarce in Delhi now) but high on flavours and the mozzarella opened up the taste buds. Salmon salad was very good so was the Rabbit Terrine. Croute aux Morilles-Warm morels (gucchies) with Port reduction, (not the Goan type) was outstanding and a not-to-be missed dish on the Menu. The Sole Armoricaine was outstanding fish with unique sauce that reminds me somehow of Cajun food. Campagnarde is the French Pizza with smoky chicken sausage was delicious even though it had the Italian flavor of ‘Flavors’ Restaurant-but we couldn’t help polishing off the whole pizza! Lemon Sorbet was light, smooth and refreshing but the Lemon Tart is one of the best and most delicious desserts in town. The 3 partners take turns to personally greet every guest. The service is quite good-so is the ambience. Prices are not cheap but reasonable, considering the high quality of the ingredients. Don't expect the indigenisation or fusion and be open minded about the dishes and you will love the place. One of the very few chef-owned and driven restaurants in Delhi and it shows on your table. The place was bussing with young professional types-that is a great sign of Delhiites' food habits too.
