“Cheap and nice enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

The hotel is nothing fancy but you get what you pay for. Some of the 400Rs rooms are a bit cramped, stuffy and moldy. Some of them are in a lot better state than others though. The bigger pricier rooms on the other hand are much better and they have nice renovated bathrooms. We stayed in one of the 650Rs rooms with a double bed and two chairs that turn into mattresses. Mattresses were one of the comfiest in all of India. Usually you get a 2 inch almost concrete one but at Namaskar the beds are more comfortable. We were happy with our room and the receptionists were professional and helpful. They gave us advice on how to get train tickets from New Delhi stn that's at the end of the street. They never tried to sell us any other trips but a day trip to Agra which we enquired about. We ended up getting the trip from a travel agency though. They also sell water for 10 Rs a bottle at the Hotel when it's sold for 15-30 Rs everywhere else in Delhi. We didn't like the fact you had to leave your room key at reception every time you went out but that was a hotel policy and we had to respect it.

Don't take Namaskar's airport pick up as it costs 700 Rs. It's expensive because parking is so pricey at the airport. You can get a taxi from the prepaid taxi counter for about 330 Rs (depends on how many people and how much luggage) to the main bazaar. It's not too hard to find there as all the local store owners at the bazaar know exactly where it is.

We stayed at this hotel both times we were in Delhi, and was comfortable both times.
The first time we were there we had a really good room with freshly painted walls and a nice bathroom. The room was very close to the street, so there was alot of noise.
The second time we stayed there the room (number 27) was less good, one of the facets didn't work and the walls was'nt as nice as in the first room, but the room was very quiet.
We paid 400 rs pr night both times, and were satisfied both times. The men who worked there were really nice and the hotel was very central. The rooms were clean and it is very good value, especially for Delhi that is normally very expensive.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the street.

Our room was on the ground floor, cost INR400 for a double and we could just about maneuver around the bed.

It's right in the hub of main bazaar so very convenient, also convenient for the train station a the end of the road. It unfortunately is at the end of a street with street latrines at the entrance from the main bazaar so every time you walk back you need to go past them.

There's a good internet cafe practically next door which is useful if you're travelling alone and don't want to wander too far alone at night.

The staff are friendly and helpful and the reception is presentable. It's but not as good as Down Town (off Main Bazaar too) where we stayed at on our way back through Delhi.

Room Tip: Avoid ground floor with no windows!

This is the only hotel I've stayed at in New Delhi, so I can't say how it compares to other budget hotels around it. But I can say this is the worst hotel I stayed at in India. It's very noisy, and the bathroom is terrible. The front desk staff is okay, though not the friendliest I've encountered. You have to pay for the wifi from the shop next door, which would be fine if it worked, but we spent 400 rupees on Internet that seldom worked. The bathroom sink also did not work, and we had to turn water on from a disgusting crank under the sink. Keep looking, I'm sure you can do better.

One of the more quiet places in the Pahar Ganj area. That doesn't mean it is quiet, but it's not as noisy as other hotells here.
The room for 650rs was okay with one big bed and two small ones, but the room were extremely damp and had alot of black mould on the doors (propably on the walls also, but it was overpainted).
The little pool of water outside the bathroom never dried out.
There was hot water, but such low pressure that you couldn't take a hot shower (but an ice cold one was possible).

The staff did their job and wasn't unfriendly, but thats it.

Stay here for the service. They helped arrange a driver, itinerary, check trains, and anything else we needed assistance with. We had been emailing before we arrived and they promptly responded and set everything up for us. The room was not so great though - we got what we paid for.
