“Very Good Malabari food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

I have been there a couple of time and loved the Malabari food in this restaurant. One of my favorites is lemon fish curry. The upam here is also great, very light and refreshing. I would definitely eat here again.

“good value for money - south indian malabari cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

showcasing south indian malabari cuisine, the interiors are fashioned around the kerala backwaters appearance. the seats close to the window are my favourite as you get a good view of the road and the densely forested JNU campus in the distance.
the meal is preceded by 'papad' which is served free of cost on your table, along with the 'chutneys'. the staff has the terrible and sneaky habit that some restaurants have of putting a bottle of mineral water on your table, and you just open it and drink it thinking it is part of the meal or complimentary - it is NOT! a cheap and unnecessary stunt.
we usually try the non vegetarian Thali (platter) or the sea food thali- filled with exotic dishes, well cooked and flavoured, there is a choice of 'appam or Malabar paratha' to go with it. the Thali, unlike most south indian restaurants is not 'unlimited', but the spread is quite generous, and my wife and I generally share a thali, ordering just one extra 'appam or ' Malabar paratha'.
the attitude of the staff is fairly casual and can put you off - I suggest you concentrate on enjoying your meal, because the service is fairly prompt.

“Will not recommend Zambar to friends and relatives”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Went to celebrate our 15th Anniversary. It was not very memorable experience. First thing to notice was that the lousy service. The food is not upto our taste. Price was expensive. We had to leave more than 50% of our food ordered at the table, as they informed that packing of the thalis was not possible.

Far better options are available right next door of the restaurant at a fraction of the cost. It is better to avoid unless there is no vacancy available in the other restaurants of the Ambience Mall.
