“Overwhelming sense of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

Seeing something that has stood the test of time over more than 800 years has got to be impressive. This is another site where you need to take your time. Walk around and read all about the rich history of the place. Bring your camera and try to visit either early morning or late afternoon to get the most of the light. For a more lighthearted experience you can look out for the swooping green parrots (or they could be love birds - in any case very colourful and playful).

“A must see in Delhi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

This is the most visited monument in Delhi. It is slightly crowded on the weekends so one should try and visit it on the weekdays. Lots of things to wonder about lay around at this place. One can easily see the combination of Muslim and Hindu Architecture at this place and one can easily understand that it was erected out of stones obtained from some Hindu Temple or some building of a similar nature. The Iron Pillar in the central courtyard is equally mysterious with a couple of beliefs attached to it.

There is an incomplete minaret in the same complex, which is definitely much bigger in size as far as the completed portion is concerned and it is rumoured that it would have been twice the size of Qutab Minar had it been completed.

Definitely a THUMBS UP from me.

“Beautiful structure...slightly crowded but a must see”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2013

A great historic monument which should not be missed. We spent more than two hours here ...monument has beautiful Arabic inscriptions and we took lots of pictures. We were impressed by the crowds visiting this monument on a weekend...maybe a weekday would be less crowded.

“Don't Miss It”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

This is great 12th century tower. It's about 5 stories high, in beautiful condition and located in the Qutb Complex several miles southwest of the center of New Delhi. The engravings on the minar itself as well as those found on various panels and columns in the complex are so inviting that you could spend hours just looking at and admiring them.

“Awe inspiring but...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2013

The islamic structures are awe inspiring but why did all the earlier temples and structures have to be destroyed? In some ways the attempted reconstructiosn of the earlier temples trump the magnificence of the later islamic structures.

Well worth spending an hour or so looking around.
