During our recent visit to India, my wife and I began our adventure in Delhi and spent three nights at the Oberoi.
From our arrival, this hotel just oozed class. Upgraded to a suite, we had a fantastic view over Delhi and the oasis of greenery was amazing. Bathroom and shower were on the compact side but this did not detract from the size of bedroom and separate sitting area. We enjoyed a thoroughly enjoyable meal at their speciality Italian restaurant Trevitino and breakfast over the three days at the Three Sixty restaurant was awesome - everything you could wish for and if it was not on the menu, they would make it for you.
The pool was superb: a lovely temperature, big enough so it never felt crowded and attentive service from the pool staff.
And that brings me on nicely to what makes this hotel special - yes, you could say it is a business man's hotel but what it does superbly is blend this seamlessly with the needs of the leisure guest. And how do they do this? - with outstanding staff. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, we were treated like royalty from every member of staff we encountered (and this applies to all guests). From organising trips to the attractions in Delhi, recommending the best place to shop to making restaurant bookings, nothing is a trouble and it is always done with a huge smile.
It would be unfair for me to single out a particular member of staff as each and everyone of them were tremendous but I have to say a huge thanks to Mona (Leisure Guest Concierge) who 'organised' us during our brief stay and Abishek (Concierge) who looked after us at New Delhi railway station and ensured we safely made the train to Agra - thanks guys.
If you are thinking about a hotel in New Delhi and you want to be treated like a king, look no further than the Oberoi.
Room on the 4th floor or higher to enjoy the views.
