“excellent choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

we stayed here for 3 nights in january and loved this hotel. The hotel echoes the british raj period with atmosphere and decor. The service is excellent as are the rooms and the day spa. take a wander around the hotel and look at all the great photos from that period.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Imperial in Delhi.

The building itself is beautifully kept Art Deco style and the service was wonderful

If you prefer state of the art modern then this is not the place for you but if you want something a bit more traditional but with impeccable service and all of the modern facilities then I am sure that you will enjoy this hotel.

Beautiful old hotel with impeccable service. We had a really nice suite. Ate in both the restaurants I preferred the indian one, but both really good.
We used tuck tucks to get around to the attractions as most too far to walk too and spread out.

We arranged for one day's stay at this hotel at the end of our train tour around Rajasthan. We assumed that we would need a rest before our flight back to London. This was the ideal hotel.
It is an oasis of calm in Delhi and a true 5* Hotel. It is beautifully appointed and the service was excellent.
As we were tired we stayed at the hotel all day - which we would not normally do -- such was the peacefulness of this hotel. The spa was excellent, albeit small, but well appointed and very calm.

The restaurants were also very good -- see separate entries.
Good spread for breakfast too.

Everything was as good as it gets, including the historical "imperialist days" memorabilia.

Our room was excellent and when our butler noticed that there was a lingering cigar smell - the previous guest had overdone things on the cigar front -- he provided aromatisers immediately. (Clearly rules on smoking in hotel rooms in Delhi, sadly, are not the same as in the UK.) There was even a choice of pillows.

Almost as a bonus, the price was fair and reasonable. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Just check to see if the previous guest smoked cigars!

Wonderful rooms, magnificent breakfast and good lunch buffet on the terrace. Excellent attention to detail. A wonderful way to begin a trip to India. Road work outside the hotel made access a little bumpy but tis was just a temporary hitch.

Room Tip: we had a room on the ground floor facing internal gardens and it was very quiet.

This was the fifth time I had stayed at The Imperial over the past 25 years and it still has the very highest standards - which must be difficult to maintain in such a large hotel & in such a chaotic city as New Delhi.
The building is superbly maintained inside and out and if you appreciate the good things in life than you will enjoy The Imperial.
It has an aura of quiet efficiency that other 5 star hotels often lack.
However if you like minimalism stay away as it has chandeliers, carpets and pictures galore.

Stayed for 2 nights in August 2013.

The Imperial lived up to all expectations - beautifully done up from the lobby to the rooms, delicious breakfast spread and impeccable service with great attention to detail.

We loved the central location albeit the Metro construction outside makes foot navigation slightly inconvenient.

Dinner at the Spice Route was one of the best meals we've had in Delhi.

Now for the best part of my stay - I forgot my gold and diamond ring in the hotel and they emailed me in 2 days informing me that their cleaning staff had found it. I really commend the staff's honesty, an admirable quality when one sees impoverishment in large swathes of the population still.
