“As good as you'd expect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Namasté!

My two greatest friends (...er, aside my wife, ahem) and I stayed here for a long weekend in April, and the stay was - i think - faultless.

Service - Impeccable. Anything you wanted at any time was fine, without question. Breakfast box at 6am, more ice? extra this, extra that, more bottled water, etc. Great.

Food - great. The buffet was not the best i've ever had, but very close. Beautiful main food room, great fresh juices, omelette station, etc. The pizzas (the only in-house food i tried) were really good and the same price as back home in the UK,

Room - perfect. Bed was amazing, shower spot-on. View - mediocre. Air-con, fine. TV was a great rear-projection one. iPod dock v useful.

As Delhi is very easy to get around in (auto-rickies, taxi or walking), the hotel's location was great, and meant that walking up to Connaught Place was the perfect distance to rty and wear off the curry we ate up there,

Value - i believe it's very expensive, but we took a deal, and i guess the full price would be worth it.

Can't really think of anything to fault the place...

The Imperial is for sure the hotel to experience on your trip to delhi..
-great breakfast
-mostly attentive staff
-location is superb
-rooms can be a little hit or miss.. some face an internal courtyard.. ask to see room.
-there's a lot of delhi to explore in terms of restaurants etc. don't not leave the hotel!
-furniture is a bit shiny and some may find the atmosphere a bit dated
-you will be surrounded by other travelers like yourself.. you must visit other properties to see rub shoulders with indians...
-we were booked into this hotel with KOKOindia our amazing tour operator.. they explained the pros and cons of this property and we knew what we were getting into.
-all in all you must stay here at least once.. everyone will ask you where you stayed in delhi when you get home and undoubtedly the Imperial has been the bench mark for a long time.. but there are other properties out there that should be experienced to get a well rounded feel for new delhi.

Charm and elegance, excellent breakfast. Arrived at 4am on the 15th and left at 5am on the 16th to catch train to Agra, so very little time to enjoy the facilities of the hotel. What we did see and experience was wonderful

We were on the well torn golden triangle tour before a week by the beach - Imperial Delhi, Oberoi Agra, Jai Mahal Jaipur (couldn't get into the Rambagh) then Leela in Goa - I only list these as I'm sure if you are reading this there s a strong chance you are planning something similar.

Short story - entire tour fabulous, personal tour guide and driver a great way to be introduced to this fabulous country.

Imperial Hotel - great staff, great public spaces, fabulous breakfasts, and the spice route restaurant really good. We arrived on a Saturday morning, caught up on some sleep then went Varq at the Taj Mahal hotel. Great way to get out of the hotel although I recognise we remained within the top end tourist "bubble" - Varq Crab was superb and worth the trip alone, car organised by the hotel all very easy and fun.

These things only bother you if you let them however for completeness of review be prepared for some big cost disparities as you travel through India - imperial won the price for most expensive bottle of beer - 330ml bottle of Kingfisher =700 rupees -> Goa beach bar 650ml bottle = 100rupees. I totally get its not a fair comparison on any level but my fellow explorers be brave, open up to this fabulous country and with a bit of pre warning let the numbers just wash over you and enjoy!

NB- the Taj hotel looked fine for business or young execs on the pull but much preferred the calm confidence of the Imperial.

We have travelled all over the world and we always enjoy returning to the Imperial. It is always accommodating, friendly and a great oasis from the hubbub of the wonderful city. I have stayed there many times and still marvel at the beauty and attention to detail of this hotel (it is like a museum). The staff always remembers and acknowledges return travellers, their memories are amazing. The rooms are maintained impeccably and their superior service always makes one feel, as someone said, "Anything is possible in India".

Room Tip: Using the spa is a wonderful experience, one of the best and most beautiful in the world. I love the...

We stayed at the Imperial on the front and back end of our trip to India. What a wonderful oasis with exceptional service and attention to detail. The pool area and spa are welcoming and delightful after our daily excursions. The 1911 restaurant and Spice Route restaurant were spectacular.

Room Tip: I think all rooms are great!
