I found The Hospitality Home Bed & Breakfast at the AGODA website while scouting for a suitable accommodation within the Karl Bagh Area. I decided to book a deluxe room for two nights last December 18-20, 2012 after reading the positive reviews from previous guests. I arrived around 9pm and was surprised to discover that the location is in a small alley near the main road. It took some time before the rickshaw driver was able to find its location so I had the impression that it was not that popular to the locals. From the outside it looks spooky especially there was no one around and the neighborhood was so quiet. The entrance was not impressive at all since the door was small and I had loads of luggage. Having arrived after a 22 hour train ride from Mumbai it was rather challenging to climb up the narrow stairway to reach the reception area since there was no lift. I was greeted by Sunny, the receptionist on duty (he looks like one of the characters in the Lord of the Rings). Realizing how tired I was he asked me to have a seat and take my time. Shortly, I presented my hotel voucher then he started showing me the rooms (4 rooms on the same floor) which looked almost the same but I opted for the room with windows. It seems that I was the only guest on that floor but was told there were other guests in the upper floors.
I was impressed by the size of the room, the large bed, flat screen LCD TV, wooden furniture and the immaculately clean toilet and bathroom. I checked the hot water and was satisfied to find that the water pressure was strong since it is a necessity to have a hot water shower at any time of the day since it was really cold in Delhi.
My plan was to book a tour package to Agra for the following day but when I inquired through the reception Sunny called a travel agent but was unable to give me the information, instead, he asked me to check with him in the morning. Considering my very limited time in Delhi, I decided to look for a travel agent on my own. I passed by AMIT Travel where I booked the tour package to Taj Mahal, among other attractions. It was a decision I later on regretted since I was overcharged and the tour program given by the operator did not meet my expectations.
Due to some changes in my travel plan I asked to extend for another two days but unfortunately, all their rooms were fully booked. I had no choice but to look for another accommodation in a nearby hotel. After I have paid the room in the nearby hotel and returned to Hospitality Home to check out I find it strange to be offered a room. Much as I wanted to stay, it was rather too late.
As for the breakfast, it was too modest and far below my expectation. I am sure they can improve a lot on this area. Regarding internet, the speed was acceptable, I was able to upload my photos on my Facebook account without much difficulty.
Overall, I can say that The Hospitality Home Bed & Breakfast is a good choice for budget travelers. I will not hesitate to stay here again on my next visit to Delhi since Sunny was very accommodating and friendly. He helped me contact my friend using his mobile phone on a number of occasions.
It is best to choose a room at the lower floor next to the Reception since it is difficult to climb...
