“Best B&B I have stayed at till date”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Very good rooms, very good responsive staff, Very good responsive and helpful management staff, excellant ambience, --- Overall very nice place to stay. Don't expect great food as the staff are not Catering school educated. And the place is a little difficult to find. Will definitely stay at the Red Maple again.

Very nice rooms, very clean, nice bathroom, freindly and helpful staff, quality that can match any top hotels,

Improvement suggestion: AC can be less noisy. Curtains can be darker to prevent bright sunlight.

None the less, absolutely brilliant.

Room Tip: you can always requests for a bigger room. But more importantly, it's not easy to locate the pla...

The Red Maple has a lot going for it: high standard of cleanliness, luxurious mattresses (though just slightly on the soft side), excellent showers, beautifully appointed rooms, friendly and helpful staff, pretty good breakfast (included), good washer and dryer available for guests to use at no charge (they will also do laundry for you, if you like), pretty quiet location, min-fridge in room, free wifi/cable Internet, small library for guests, and good a/c with 24-hour power backup that includes the a/c. It was 108° in Delhi when I was there, yet the a/c kept the room cool. Since it’s well away from the Ring Road, the air is a bit less polluted. They provide a free bottle of mineral water a day. There is a DTDC courier office across the street, which I found particularly convenient.
It’s a very good value for the money, providing a level of comfort that rivals a four-star hotel. In Delhi, you can pay several times as much without a significant increase in the comfort level.
There are a few potential disadvantages. They don’t have room to store luggage. The breakfast area has only two tables, so you may end up sharing a table or taking breakfast in your room. As others have noted, it is a bit hard to find, though that wasn’t an issue for me as I was already familiar with the neighborhood. They don’t have a good taxi company they can call. The one they use has very high rates, so I wouldn’t recommend using their local taxis. They would do well to find a better company for the convenience of their guests. (Hint. Hint.) However, there is a cycle rickshaw stand less than 100 meters away, and it is only a Rs20 ride to the Metro stop (though many will try for Rs50). South Extension central market is an easy walk, less than 1km away. Or you can take a cycle rickshaw, but don’t give more than Rs20. The local rate is probably Rs10-15, as it’s closer than the Metro.
This is not an ideal place for families with children. It’s better for solo travelers and couples. And it’s safe for women. There is a guard stationed outside day and night.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms are more noisy due to proximity to reception and the kitchen. The room next t...

In Delhi, it is difficult to find an affordable hotel that provides all that this B&B does.
So, even if the location is a little offseted from the Connaught circle, this place remains a must-go for whoever want to visit Delhi.
INA metro is closeby, the bustling animated main road closeby is full of restaurants and shoppings, and the area is residential (without interest) but convinient also (less polluted and noisy, really! Delhi is terribly noisy!!!)
Rooms are clean, wide, air-conditionned, internet if free and food is excellent and safe!!!
Do not hesitate.

A lovely bed & breakfast with warm and welcoming hosts. Our room was beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable as any 5-star hotel, and within easy walking distance of town. We arrived late night but they welcomed us with fruit juice and also offered us hot Indian masala tea. They served us meal in our room as we were hungry and tired from the long journey. The staff was very polite and helpful especially in ensuring that we got taxis on time with excellent drivers and always ready to do anything you tell them.
The breakfast was served as buffet with a mixture of Indian and English, we loved the masala omelette and porridge they made. We shared a breakfast table with others who were staying there but everyone was lovely with interesting chat with lots of tips for our travels. Very good for a first time traveller. The hosts were really nice people, often sit with us and chit chat about Indian culture and society, they always guide us which area is better during the day and which is better during the night time. They provided us with lots of information regarding the local area and services they could offer but didn't force anything on us at all. They also booked one day trip for local sight seen with a good English speaking driver and a day trip to Agra with an English speaking guide which is a plus point for any guest who stays there.

Originally we were going to stay at a B&B closer to the main street (more money) and I'm glad we didn't as this was much more peaceful, which is exactly what we wanted -- near enough to all the activity and a few blocks away to get away from it all, too. It is five minutes walking distance from the upmarket South Extension Market , we had lovely meal at one of the fast food restaurant Bengali sweets and also loved the Indian sweets. We will surely stay again as we felt like we were at home away from home

1. Hotel rooms: we stayed for 3 nights at this B&B. The place is decorated to look like a mini business-class hotel. It is impeccably clean, and the western-style bathroom has an excellent, excellent shower. You have to turn the water heater on for 10-15 minutes first, but this is standard in India. The hotel also has two small dining tables and serves solid good food for lunch and dinner. The included buffet breakfast was very decent and you can order a freshly made omelette too.

2. The staff: the staff is not chatty but very friendly and super helpful. They were all honest, good people and we enjoyed interacting them. The owner lives off the premise but he visits the hotel a few times a day. He was very pleasant to talk to.

3. Location: the hotel is in a very safe middle-class neighbourhood. If anyone finds this noisy, they must not have stayed at any other city in India. Indian cities are busy and honking horns is a standard driving signal. In India you can't get away from sounds even in rural areas. Cab and tuk tuk drivers do have to ask for directions when they get close, but this seems to be a common way of navigation in Delhi since it's a very large city with many winding side alleys. Don't stress about it. Everybody found it without taking that much time. Just don't forget to carry the address with you so you can easily show it to the driver.

3. Shopping tip: the hotel is fairly close to the rather small N-Block market, which has almost all my favourite Indian textile/clothing stores in one place: Fabindia, Anokhi, Cottons, and Kilol. The Fabindia here is the first and largest in India. The market is a quiet shopping plaza with absolutely no touts. It makes a very pleasant shopping experience. The restaurant there, Zaffran, is great.

4. Airport tip: the hotel's airport pickup service is double what you'd pay with a metered cab. If you don't need the convenience, it's very easy to get into a cab at the airport. Meru cabs at the airport is a very reputable company.

Room Tip: The room on the ground floor is noisier since it's next to the reception. Also, check that your...
