“We stayed here 7 nights. Very, very good hotel (but it's not perfect).”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2010

We stayed here for 7 nights so we got to feel out this place pretty well.....

Pros:
- This hotel is very clean and well kept. It's impeccable. It's the cleanest we have encountered in all of India.
- While the breakfast is just OK, the other food they serve is fantastic.
- Our train was 7 hours late but our pick up was there no problem. We were very thankful for this.
- They helped us organize a early checkout with a drop off.
- It's very close to two metro stations.
- The staff are friendly and helpful (maybe too much so).
- We felt very, very comfortable here. It felt like we had everything we needed.
- They have high-speed internet.
- Great room service.

Cons:
- While our beds were very comfortable, there was a lot of noise coming from outside. Lots of screaming, yelling and also loud music late at night and early in the mornings. As well, there were a few mornings where the staff we very, very noisy (talking loud & laughing) at 6-7am forgetting that their guests were trying to sleep.
- The "travel agent" there isn't much of one. Once you arrive he tells you that he can arrange anything for you. In reality that's not true. I wanted him purchase train tickets and a flight but he couldn't do that for me. To accomplish that he was going to take me to a travel agent's office. Anyways, he seems only interested in selling you a package tour and making his commission.
- The laundry service is expensive, especially considering it's not machine washed or dried.
- The bathrooms are are very clean and nice, but the shower head isn't very good. There is good pressure but it's sprays way too wide for it to be properly effective.
- No WiFi.

Even if it has it's flaws, we recommend this hotel very much. I hope they maintain the same standards throughout the years.

We had a hard time finding this beautiful new hotel (doesn't even have a sign yet!). It's in a residential area, which has the charms of being a bit removed from the insanity of Delhi, which made it a great spot for us. The rooms are outfitted with every new thing you could ask for, from a sweet flat-screen TV to beautiful art, lush furniture and sparkly bathroom fittings. The staff are wonderful, and looked out for our every need, giving us advice on travel and making sure that our food was just as we wanted it. We stayed here the last night of our trip, and our flight left much later in the day, and they let us check out later in the day so that we wouldn't have to do our sightseeing with all that we'd accumulated over the whole trip!

We are two italians friends and we spent 2 nights in this new and very nice hotel.
Wood Castel hotel is located in a very quiet and residential neighbourhood of Karol Bagh, 5 minutes far from the Metro station and very closed to the Karol Bagh market, a nice and cheap area for food and shopping.
Hotel staff has been very friendly and hospital with us and at the night, when we came back, was a pleasure to spend some time talking about indian life with the owners.
We really recommend to all this accomodation.

We stayed here for three nights in Jan 2010 and the hotel at this time was still spanking new. Since there are still not a lot of reviews, I will go into some details here.

India is a tricky country to book your lodging, because when a place is dirty, it’s so filthy that you don’t want to stay for a minute. But when it’s clean and nice, it oftens costs a fortune. So unless you have a very thick wallet, you will be looking for a place that’s clean, comfortable, and most importantly, economical. Wood Castle fits the bill squarely.

Location:
Wood Castle is conveniently located in an area called Karol Bargh. It is an easy 8-min walk to the metro station, and you are 3 stops away from Connaught Place. The hotel itself is situated in a quiet lane which may surprise you if it is your first night in India. You will see dogs outside the hotel and people sleeping in tents a few doors down. But if you have been to India for even just a few days, you will know that this is typical. The street behind the Taj hotel in Mumbai looks just like this block here.

Rest assured that it is a safe area and there are plenty of convenience stores seconds away from the hotel.

The taxi driver will not know this hotel, but mention Karol Bagh and Channa Market and you will be taken to the right place.

Room:
Rooms are bigger than what the pictures suggest. The unoccupied rooms were unlocked so I peeked into many of them. We stayed in room 300, their deluxe room, and it was spacious. There is a fridge, a TV with some English channels, and two chairs. The room is spotless and the bed is big and comfortable. Bathroom is spacious but it does not have a shower stall (not atypical for this price range) so when you shower, you will also wet the toilet and the surronding area. Hot water is consistent and always running. Water pressure is excellent.
Our room faces the street so you will hear people talking outside in the morning and evening, but at night it is quiet. If you are a super light sleeper, ask for room 200. It is in the middle of the building and it will be quiet.

Hospitality:
The folks at Wood Castle are super friendly. From day one, they welcomed us like old friends. They are sincerely accomodating. Because it gets cold this time of year, they repeatedly offered us extra blankets and a heater. On Republic Day, they invited us to a celebration dinner for free and we had a wonderful evening with great conversations.

Travel Arrangements:
Wood Castle has someone who is responsible for all travel arrangements. We hired their driver one day and the driver was reliable and courteous. We were never pressured into purchasing any tours.

Overall, this is a great place to stay. We shall be back.

We stayed there for one night, and had a very pleasant stay. The rooms were clean and stylish, the food was good and the staff were great. We left there 5 in the morning but they managed to give us breakfast in our rooms before we left.

The hotel is situated in a silent lane in Channa market, near to Karol Bagh, one of the crowded shopping market of Delhi. The location is very good. The main shopping market and Karol Bagh metro station are on walking distance. At the first sight the hotel shows it's luxury and kindness. The service is excellent, all the poeple serve with a honest smile. The rooms are compact, but give you all the comfort a good hotel room needs. A large bed, satellite t.v., clean bathroom, 24 hrs hot water and room service. The hotel owners provide all the extra's you need (blankets, heaters, sheets, pillows).

Enjoy a good affordable hotel, nice service and.. the love that Indians have.
