We stayed at Hotel Le Roi during a four day stop in New Delhi earlier this year and found this to be a good option for those wanting to a place in the Paharganj area and in need of more comforts than are normally provided in backpacker style accommodations.
In general, we were pleased with the hotel staff and services. They were attentive and accomodating at all times. Front desk was able to provide currency exchange, transportation arrangements and luggage storage as well. Further, they helped us with the TV when we were having trouble and provided a heater unit for our room when it became too cold. We haven't always experienced this level of service at hotels in India, for this we were very thankful.
The hotel location was fine, particularly for those arriving by train at the main New Delhi station and those interested in the fun street market area of Paharganj. We were able to walk to the bazaar markets and Red Fort and to the Connaught Place area with little difficulty. Alternatively, you new Metro via the New Delhi Train Station to make your way to places further afield if needed. The Hotel is 15 minute walk from the Metro station.
Room was of good size, comfortable bed, TV with English channels, coffee/tea making facilities, two decent chairs and strong wifi-service. Stocked fridge and working safe rounded out a highly functional yet nicely decorated room. This was a nice place to retreat and relax after long days of sightseeing in the city. Bathroom included towels, toiletries and had modern fixtures that worked well, including the toilet and shower.
Morning breakfast was sufficient at the downstairs Cafe De Roi, we found food that we liked each morning and plenty of fruit juice and decent coffee. We ordered dinner from Cafe De Roi up to our room one evening, finding the Indian curry dishes to be quite good. Would have eaten in Cafe De Roi again based on this meal.
In the end, we were quite happy with our experience at Hotel Le Roi, finding the accommodations quite welcoming after having travelled hard around Rajasthan for a couple of weeks. We were need of a bit more comforts, which this hotel more than adequately provided at a very good price. We would have no problems staying here again.
Rooms were quite cold in early January, might be worth asking front desk for a heater unit
