“Good modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2012

Fair sized room with very good a/c, nice bathroom, large flat TV with plenty of channels and strong free Wi-Fi. Good restaurant, quiet area. Helpful desk and allowed us to leave bags for two days whilst we travelled elsewhere.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have windows over the street - not noisy

We stayed at this hotel for a total of 3 nights over two stays at the beginning and end of a tour through India with On The Go Tours (Travel Inn Tour Company). The hotel is well presented and has 3 floors of rooms spread across two buildings.

(+) Positives
+ Modern appearance, large LCD/plasma tv’s in the rooms with a good number of English spoken channels
+ Clean (India standards!)
+ Beds are quite comfortable
+ Good air conditioning
+ The bathroom area was quite generous although like other reviews the toilet paper is not fixed to a wall!
+ Free wi-fi accessible in all areas excluding the restaurant
+ Restaurant served good food and staff were friendly enough
+ Breakfast was included (not a large selection but toast was sufficient with our self-supplied vegemite
+ The location is quite close to the Airport in New Delhi. A prepaid taxi was 250 rupees for 2 passengers with 2 bags (good luck with the prepaid taxi drivers as they can be difficult to secure their services!)

(-) Negatives
- On two separate stays both rooms had no hot water and staff had to intervene to enable this
- The room sizes are quite compact. Not an issue if you are use to European hotel rooms, an issue if you are use to US sized rooms
+ Only 1 bottle (500ml) of drinking water was provided in the room
- The area is quite local around the hotel. While it is safe to walk in the surrounding areas there is not a lot to visit/see. There is a local market not far away but we avoided eating there as most of the food was previously cooked and served cold/luke warm

The Almondz Hotel is not a bad choice for accommodation – on appearance the décor, common areas and rooms are quite modern. Expect to find large groups of local people staying at the hotel if during their wedding season. We experienced this as the noise kept us awake as they met, argued and generally resided in the hallways.

I do not recommend this hotel for people visiting (New) Delhi unless you have a need in the local area.

Room Tip: Check the hot water as you walk in the room

Stayed one night at this hotel after completing a tour to Jaipur and Agra. Stayed in Rm 212 on 8 Apr 2012. Found hair trimmings on the toilet seat which still had the lid down and sanitized tape across the seat - I believe this could only have been deliberately done by one of the staff after the room was prepared for guests! Why??
Had a great meal that night in the hotel restaurant with two other couples from our tour group. My wife and I both counted the money for the bill and put it in the folder which was then collected by the waiter. He came back to our table a few minutes later and said we had not covered the account by Rs100 ($2.00). We know that the amount we paid was correct as it was just 4 notes (2 x Rs500 and 2 x Rs100) and we both counted it. We told the waiter that we had NOT made a mistake but would pay the missing Rs100 anyway as it was such a small amount.
Will not be returning to this hotel!

Stayed there for 04 nights very recently & think this hotel is value for money considering the deal which I got. Rooms are clean & came with all the amenities.. They have a really powerful WiFi system & it comes complimentary with the room. Breakfast has less choices but the restaurant staff tried to make us happy. Bathrooms have good hot water supply 24x7. Hotel is at walkable distance to Patel Nagar Metro Station...

I was stayed here in December Month with my wife, nice hotel making me feel like home, the most important thing from a hotel would be making us feel like home, and that's what i got! since no where can be more comfortable than home sweet home.for the next business trip, be sure to stay here again! The hotel has superb cleanliness, the staff is very helpful, the reception is too good, the boys always smiling, location is good but not on the main road, the room having very comfortable mattresses. In all good experience

Room Tip: i was stayed in room no. 328, it is the largest suite room in this hotel, rooms having maximum facil...

I cannot understand some of the positive reviews on this site. I can only assume the hotel is writing some of the reviews. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. This is a budget hotel pretending to be a midrange hotel. As I value specifics in reviews please find the following issues we had with the hotel:
1) They tried to over charge us for the airport transfer. Immediately when we got in the car the driver told us we owed him for parking even though we had in writing from the hotel that the transfer was all inclusive. When we raised this issue to the reception upon checking in we were ignored.
2) The transfer driver was horrible. We have been to egypt, turkey, multiple southeast asian countries, etc. We have had bad drivers, but this guy took the cake. He drove like a maniac. He went far faster than the rest of the traffic. Weaving in and out. All over the place.
3) Despite having a toilet sealed saying it has been sanitized there was a penny sized blob of poop on the seat.
4) It appeared the hotel maid decided to shake his head all over the bed as there were too many hairs to count on it.
5) The front desk staff was beyond unhelpful. Despite being asked they failed to do simple things like show us where the hotel was on the map or recommend good restaurants. It appeared they thought in was some big inconvenience to them to answer our questions. We ended up walking down to the Jaypee hotel down the street for help.
6) They forgot to book our transfer back to the airport despite confirming it the evening before. In frustration of all of this we walked across the street and asked another hotel to book it for us.
7) The walls are very thin. Be prepared to wake up hearing your neighbors alarm.
8) The doors are designed in a way where they cannot be closed without making a lot of noise. We would be woken up at all times of the night to slamming doors.

Also, I am not sure what the non premium rooms look like. However, I cant imagine how the would be much worse. The premium room apparently does not include basic things like a toilet roll holder. Additionally, our shower didnt work properly.

In order to find some positives in the hotel. The breakfast was basic, but nice. The breakfast crew worked hard to be helpful. Tip - if you like coffee, make sure to say you want extra strong coffee. Our first morning the coffee tasted and looked like tea because it was so weak.

We are pretty easy going. We have stayed all over the world. For example, we have spent 5 weeks in SE Asia staying in several $10/night places that were nicer than this.

Room Tip: Stay in another hotel.

We had a somewhat good experience at this hotel. Breakfast was included and good, although most of the staff at the restaurant speaks very little English and their lassis are made with syrup instead of actual fruit.

We had been told by email that they would pick us up for free (it says that on their website), later on, they told us that since we had made our booking through agoda, we didn't have a right to the free pick-up.

The lady said we should show her the email where we were told they would pick us up for free so she could make the person who wrote it "pay" for it, which we didn't do, like we want to get some random Indian employee into trouble just for that. It was still an unpleasant situation. They need to work on improving their customer service. At some point, also, when we checked out and were waiting for out taxi to arrive, we said we would go to the restaurant to get something to drink because we were thirsty, and some guy at the reception basically shouted at us "We don't sell any alcohol!!" like we are drunks or something, it felt so awkward.

Also, the room had no window, but we slept well, there was no noise. It was probably the only hotel we stayed at in India where there was no noise. The bathroom was fine, although the soap they give you is really cheap for that type of hotel.

I wouldn't stay here if I found other similar options for the same price. I liked much better the other hotel we stood at in Delhi, Amarya Villa, even though it wasn't perfect either.
