“Oasis of calm and peaceful rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2011

This hotel is an oasis of comfort in Delhi. It is located away from the markets and crowds and noise found almost everywhere in the city. It's an eight minute auto-rickshaw ride to the Nehru metro station. The staff are helpful and friendly. The general manager (Mukesh Sharma) and front desk clerk (Abhilash) were very helpful with directions and recommendatons. The hotel is very modern. It has all the comforts that could be expected: comfortable bed, comfortable pillows, excellent A/C, thin-screen satellite TV, room safe, minibar, laundry service, 24 hour reception and 24 hour room service. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant for four nights and every night we had a fantastic meal with excellent service provided by the waiter (Kamal Chandler) Breakfast is served for four hours every morning. Their chef (Kishanlal) makes delicious eggs-to-order and/or pancakes. A wide variety of other breakfast foods are also available. I requested a cappuccino every morning and found it to be quite delicious (thanks Dharmendra)! This hotel is not within walking distance to any metro station.
It is in an area of town (Sukdev Vihar) that very few cab drivers or auto-rickshaw drivers know well. We found that almost every cab driver had to stop and ask for directions from people walking along the street. Nonetheless, we found the location to be a benefit, not a drawback. It was so very pleasant to have some peace and quiet after a day in maddening Delhi. Last, but not least, special thanks to the doorman (Tiwari) who helped make our stay so very enjoyable.

My wife and I spent a very pleasant night in the Amber after a hectic 2 weeks touring Rajisthan. This is a modern, well furnished and clean hotel in a smart residential area with small green parks to spend a pleasant evening walk. We particularly liked the decor. Our waiter Kamal was extremely attentive and went out of his way to please. I would definately recommend this hotel to people who prefer the personal touch that you get in such hotels as opposed to the international monstrosities.

Delightful boutique hotel. Stylish, clean and very comfortable with excellent rooms, bed and shower plus good public areas. Suitable for business or tourism, though some distance from centre. Very helpful staff and good general facilities. Decent value too.

Room Tip: Despite the number, Room 101 was a good choice!

Overall, the hotel was nice but, not knowing New Delhi, we had not realised how far it was from the city centre - about 30 mins by car. Accordingly, my rating for location is based on the perspective of someone wishing to visit the main sites in central Delhi. Furthermore, as it is situated in a quiet residential area there is not really anywhere to go or anything to do within walking distance. The compact room was fairly smart (contemporary style in black, grey and white) although all the windows had smoked glass, presumably because there was no view worth seeing. Breakfast was ok but the coffee was made from instant coffee powder rather than freshly brewed and jam (in little packets) the sort that looks as if it has never had any contact with fruit at all. Staff were very helpful and courteous. We found ourselves woken each night by noise in the corridor which we attributed to two 'design faults' in the hotel: firstly, the corridor floors were of marble so making footsteps very audible and causing voices to echo loudly in the corridor; secondly, in most hotel rooms the bathroom is near the door so that the beds are a bit further from the door away whereas in this hotel the bathroom was at the far end of the room and the beds were right next to the door, i.e. near to any noise.

Gorgeous hotel- loved our modern room and the huge shower. Staff VERY accommodating (even packed us breakfasts to go for our 7 AM flight!!). Lovely rooftop garden.

The only reason I'm not giving this hotel 5-stars is because of the location. If you're in town to tour Delhi, then it's too far from the center, and taxi/tuk-tuk drivers do NOT know where it is. It was impossible to find the hotel.

If you are in town for business, or to be in South Delhi, then it's perfect for you.

Loved the free wi-fi!

While attending a conference in Delhi, I stayed at this hotel for three nights. All around excellent - room, breakfast, facilities. Hotel extremely clean, and room had all amenities. Better than most European hotels I have stayed at. Staff very friendly and helpful. It is in a residential neighborhood, and is safe and quiet. Cost less than the 5 star conference hotel and was much better. Make sure you get a map to the hotel (they give you cards with a map on it) as taxi drivers will not know where it is. Can't say enough good about this hotel!

Stayed for two nights on a business trip and must say this hotel was very clean and comfortable. It is small and very modern in decoration, has decent breakfast. The room service was very slow but the food we ordered was very good. The service in general at the reception desk was very good as well. The only complaint I would have was that they were not able to arrange beauty parlour treatments that they advertice. But to be honest, I asked after 7 pm and it was probably too late notice for them to arrange it. So, no hard feelings about that, really. Price is really reasonable for the quality you get and drive from the hotel to the airport is straight forward, easy and quick.
