“Awesome spot - awesome people - awesome time!”

Great spot! Close to the main strip (less than 5 minutes walking) - but around the corner so you have a nice feel of privacy. Place is right on the water and the dock has hammocks, a painted backgammon board, a place to eat, plenty of chairs, paper lanterns, lights, a place to jump off for a swim during the day.....a great place to relax during the day and to meet new people and play at night. The couple that runs it are super knowledgeable and can direct you to the "things to do," "things you can't miss," and great places to eat! Rooms are clean and they have a great kitchen and refrigerators/AC unit in the room - couldn't ask for more!

My girlfriend and I were traveling through Costa Rica and Panama and had stumbled across a few travelers in Puerto Viejo that we were looking to get away from. We ended up in Bocas, wandering the streets, wondering where to stay. We had heard of all of the popular/trendy hostels to stay at, but after doing some research and asking around, we decided on Casa Verde and could not have made a better decision!

It's right on the water, we pretty much had our own "Discovery Channel" right off the dock, everything is clean (including the common bathrooms and showers), great kitchen, internet access, AC (amazing!), and Chris and Kristin (managers) were absolutely awesome. They recommended great places to eat, beaches to see, taught us some great card games and treated us like family.

Casa Verde was a great value for everything available there and is close to everything in town yet set off enough that you don't have to deal with everything that goes on in a tourist town. If we go back to Bocas (which we would love to go back to Bocas), there's no other place that we would stay at. The only thing that I was disappointed with was that there was a picture of a monkey on their website, but there weren't any monkeys to pet there. Oh well. I guess I'm just a sucker for monkeys...... Other than that, Casa Verde is the best place to stay at in Bocas!

I visited Bocas in May of 2010 to do my Divemaster training with Bocas Water Sports and my instructor mentioned that she had past students who stayed at Casa Verde, so I thought I'd give it a try for a few days while looking for somewhere else to stay.

After one night, I made an agreement with the managers to stay the whole month at Casa Verde. For "hostel" type lodging, it was perfect. I stayed in a private room with a double bed. It was clean and the small refrigerator and air conditioning worked well.

The atmosphere at Casa Verde was great, the staff was friendly and encouraged everyone to get involved in common activity and conversation without being pushy about it. You could spend a night in the room catching up on e-mail or watching a movie online, or you could join in a game of backgammon or cards or simple conversation on the dock.

There were two common bathrooms with hot showers (plus an outdoor shower) which were clean, roomy, and worked well.

The best part about Casa Verde was the "mini-reef" under the dock which had a variety of sponges and corals in addition to tropical fish, an eel, and a small crab. They say there is a seahorse in residence, but I did not stumble across him.

LOVE CASA VERDE!!
feels like a home away from home...in paradise. Very relaxed, nice people, big communal kitchen and best of all an amazing dock with a shaded hut area at the end that's perfect for reading, tanning, or snoozing. Cheap and better than a hotel, places to go out to eat or drink are really close by or you could just stay in and eat a homemade dinner on the dock! MUY BUENA ONDAAAAA! Gracias Casa verde, te extrano
O and shout out to Bocas Water sports, best dive shop in town with the best trained, most fun, and nicest staff, I went on a full day snorkel tour with them and it was incredible, located right down the street from casa verde

Nice place. Has a/c (the biggest plus of all). Dock that goes straight to the ocean, really dope. Cool managers. Lock up your things, just as you would anywhere. They had new security installed, a good thing. I think the sewage dumps into the ocean, no bueno.

Casa Verde is hooked up to the municipal sewer system, our waste does NOT dump into the ocean. Our waterfront location is ideal and safe for swimming and snorkeling. Glad you enjoyed your stay!

I visited Casa Verde for a week, which wasn't long enough. If you're a solo traveler, you'll definitely find good company while staying here. The house manager, Larissa, makes sure everyone is comfortable and has a good time. She's always happy and speaks Spanish and English.

The resident couple, Chris and Kristin, are young and fun and seem to know everyone on the island, which is great help for anything from planning a day adventure to mapping out the night scene. I also got to meet the owner of Casa Verde while I was there, and it sounds like good things are in the works for this place.

The kitchen is a huge bonus if you want to save $ on meals by buying groceries and cooking for yourself. And the tiki hut at Casa Verde is a nice, chill venue to socialize with the other travelers. It's a nice change of pace from the crazy happenings right on main street (where the majority of other hostels and guest houses are). Casa Verde's spot on the water, just a few steps away from main street, is where it's at.

So glad I stayed here.

i stayed at casa verde mid-late march and loved it... it's close enough to the bars and shops, but tucked far enough away so as to avoid the island-bustle.

the new manager, larissa, is amazing and on it... from activities suggestions to more towels to just hanging out and talking (in english or spanish), she's there for you. the live-in couple, chris and kristin, are a great addition to the Casa with kristin's art/helping hands and chris' ability to count cards (chris also works at bocas water sports as a dive instructor- BWS is highly recommended for PADI certs or dives).

if you're a honeymooning couple, casa verde might not be for you as the walls are pretty thin, but if you're looking to relax with a great community feel, this is your spot.
