“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

We selected this based on reviews but we were disappointed, the location if you get a lake facing rooms is without doubt impressive. However the rest of the hotel is a let down, the reception staff were unfriendly and talk amongst themselves whilst serving you, the room decor is dark and an odd mixture of material all of which looks cheap, there was a water heater in the room instead of a kettle this regularly boiled it's self waking us up, you couldn't turn if off as it was connected to the mains. There was no where to put your toilet bag other than the bathroom floor which got wrt from the shower. The breakfast quite honestly was awful, we are happy for a basic breakfast but for the money is was rubbish. We couldn't get the staff to get us cutlery even after repeatedly asking and showing them what we wanted, we left the food in the end. Overpriced and old fashioned.

Room Tip: Lake view only, make sure they bring you table and chairs for the balcony though.

perfectly located on Shuishe pier, Sun Moon Lake, beautiful views, comfortable rooms, great friendly staff, delicious food, the hotel offers packages including ferry services on the lake, tickets for the theme park, dinner and breakfast very reasonable rates, the rooms are clean and comfortable and a good size have all the basics covered, the reason only "very Good" and not "excellent", a little problem with hot water wich the staff showed us how to overcome and the small bar fridge didnt work, everything else was truly wonderful and a very enjoyable stay

Gd: Excellent location (room has a balcony with table & chairs that faces directly to the lake); only steps away from the jetty; has a lot of food nearby; hotel has it's own 7 boats with ferry service

A special mention to the staff: we bought some fruits back to the hotel & wanted to borrow a knife to cut them, but the staff went a step further & not only cut but also peel the fruits for us..

Bad: Room was a little on the expensive side for the quality.. if only it was slightly cheaper... it will be perfect..

Room Tip: Do choose the rooms with the full lake view... though it's slightly more expensive, it's mor...

We chosen this hotel was because the location as you can enjoy the view of the lake any time but you need to book the room with lake view and not the street view type. As for breakfast, it served the standard breakfast almost everyday, bread, ham, egg, porridge with other side dishes. We were ok with the price eventhough some said the price was a bit pricey but it has a good view. One thing that letting down was that the bedroom and bathroom was separated with glass wall that almost tinted and you still can see that person inside the bathroom....

Perfect location right by the lake with a balcony overlooking the lake. There are some restaurants, souvenir shopss and a starbucks nearby. The hotel also runs a boat service for lake tour which is convenient.

One of the lake view hotels that have lifts and large beds at a very reasonable price. Good location for a sunrise which can be enjoyed from a very lovely balcony. There is a single street of food options although there are many more across the lake. Somehow we were unable to log in to the hotel's wifi despite being in the lobby.

Room Tip: Definitely pick a lake-facing room.

Recommended by a Taiwanese friend to overnight here, and she insisted that I must pay extra to get a lake facing room. It turned out that 'you never go too wrong by listening to a local". Sun moon lake is much prettier in the early morning. When the sun just rise (6am), and mist on top of the lake, it is so peace and calm.
The hotel located @Shui She Jetty, which is a better location due to its easy access by bus from Taichung, and many shops nearby for foods and shopping. However, there aren't many hotels that is lake facing, and located around here, therefore, the price for the lake facing room is slightly on upside.
If you are going Sun Moon Lake during weekday, non peak season, like I did, you can try walk-in and ask for a discount. I arrived at 6pm, where sky already turned dark and pretty sure that there wont be any other tourist coming after me, hence, manage to get a very good deal, to stay in the 7th floor with discounted price.
Room is good. Big, clean, free internet (LAN line needed, can loan from reception with TWD100 deposit), TV with multiple channels, good water pressure, amenities & towels provided, equipped with water filtering system that allow you to get unlimited warm or hot drinking water.
I would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Lake facing is a must, highest floor is definitely better! Wake up early in the morning, sitting by...
