I stayed at Full House, Sun Moon Lake for 2 nights with friends and 2 nights alone. I booked Full House after reading reviews. It is on the other side of the lake to the touristy hotels which wasn't a problem. In fact it proved very peaceful - just what I was looking for. The staff spoke very little english but other guests helped and there was no problem. I booked this hotel direct via email and confirmed the arrangements when I arrived in Taipei. The resort is quaint and set beside local homes and near major hotels and a short walk to the wharf area. Rooms overlook the lake or the mountain. I had a lake view. All rooms had a balcony. The shuttle bus was adequate and the owner told us to ring him if we required transport after the bus ended at 6 pm. The owner also drove my friends to a Doctor in another town. Nothing seemed any trouble. One of the shop owners told me Full House was one of the best. There was a restaurant and a beautiful courtyard. The bed was 'firm' but this seemed to be the norm at any hotels I stayed at in Taiwan. Bathrooms varied. One room had a hip bath while the other room had a full shower. There was filming taking place in the courtyard. Overall this was a wonderful place to enjoy the lake. I would stay this side of the lake next time.
