“The best hotel with the best staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

We had a one of the best stay that we've ever had (for 11 nights). We booked a standart room. We was bad surprised because it was without hot water. It was a shock for us. But the next day we had a hot water. The staff very friendly. The hotel was as a home for us for these days. The staff did all what we wanted and needed. It was amazing relax in the one of the best, friendly hotels with one of the best beaches in friendly and beautiful country. Thank you for this rest. We'll recomend this hotel to all. And we miss Sri Lanka and Lagoon Paradise Beach Resort.

Had gorgeous stay here for 3 nights. Had a huge corner upstairs room with huge balcony. ALL staff absolutely wonderful. Always a smile. Food reasonably priced. Beach eating fab. Manager especially friendly and extra helpful. Excellent. pool wonderful. There ate building renovations taking place but don't really disturb peace and quiet. Tuk tuk will take you around.

We stayed for 5 nights and we booked a standard room in advance. The standard room is old, dark, smudgy and could use some renovation. We upgraded to a new deluxe room that was a lot better! Modern, light, clean, spacious, balcony. The staff was friendly, but sometimes really slow. Especially service at the beachrestaurant was less service: quality of food and long waiting. If you book half board not everything on the menu is included (!). There were not much other guest.

Room Tip: book a new/renovated room instead of standard!

We booked a Deluxe room and got one in the newer complex which was spacious, modern with a nice balcony and view of the garden/pool/sea. The complex is half a construction site, the hotel is expanding but they did not work during our stay (probably bec of peak season) so it did not affect our stay at all.

The staff all over the resort is very friendly and helpful. The garden is well-groomed and the pool area nice.

The beach restaurant is welcoming with the music and the view, the food is ok but you'll find better food a short walk on the beach lefthand side.

There was a robbery at one night in the elder Delux room wing, several rooms were opened over the balcony door and money was stolen. The balcony door can easily be opened from the balcony (even if it's closed from the inside) and there is no safe in the room. We hope the hotel will take the necessary measurments that it won't happen again.

However, the management cared much about the guests affected and solved the incident to their satisfaction.

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2012 having booked for 3 nights in advance, during a 2.5 week trip around Sri Lanka. This was by far the worst place we stayed at out of 5 different places. Firstly, it was weird that it had no other guests - more staff than guests. We stopped for lunch at the restaurant on arrival - it was edible but not good either. We had breakfast both mornings as included, but otherwise would have eaten out as we did both our evening meals at Mangrove Beach Cabanas next door (which was really nice setting, friendly staff and great food). The bridge across the lagoon to the beach is incredibly ugly, nevermind looking ready to collapse into the lagoon. They had told us that building works that were being done at time of booking would be finished a couple of months before our arrival, but in fact they were ongoing and we had to walk through a building site to get onto the beach (a new beach bar was being built). We'd had enough after 2 days so told the owner and the Czech guy Michael we intended to leave the next day because of the works and asked for a refund for the night we missed. They said take it up with our agent in UK and they'd refund us through them. This became a complete farce as they kept promising to send and not doing so; in the end claiming that they can't send money to a UK bank account and the owner didn't like to give out his credit card details abroad. If he can't trust a UK travel agent with his credit card details, perhaps you shouldn't trust him with yours? Why they were building an extension to what seemed like a failing hotel I can't understand. Just a weird place. STAY AWAY

We were there for one night. There are not many beach cabanas - only a handful. The rest of the hotel is a contemporary concrete structure. An aesthetically pleasing new buidling was been constructed on one side of the property.

Possibly because of this - the rooms in the old wing seem slightly neglected. Each room is designed to be a triple - at least the 4 rooms we booked were 3 doubles and one triple. (All looked the same as far as the bedding is concerned) However strangely linen was served as a double even for the triple room. So we had to ask for an extra towel and water glass for the triple room. Pieces of furniture also differs from room to room. Some has a table some don;t . Some have elobarate spacious cloth hangars while others may not. So ask to see a room if it is possible and not all booked, may be you can get a room you like Rooms are spacious and large. Somehow - there was absolutely no wind coming through - so felt a bit stuffy. Bathroom was clean.

There was no hot water, only a single piece of soap as toiletries, no free table water, no free coffee or tea in the room - things we would normally expect for the price and level of hotel it is.

Unless it is the beach cabana the rest of the hotel is about 2-3 minute walk away from the beach. You basically cannot see the ocean from where you are in the rooms. (As far as I could tell)

Beach is wide and clean. I could not see any beach benches set up by the hotel so - not sure where you'd keep your clothes if you wanted a dip in the ocean!

There is a pub-restaurant by the beach - which is a good place to chill out with a book or with friends.

Staff are Ok. Courteous and polite. Although - front office had not communicatef our booking properly to the kitchen and we almost did not have any dinner! In the end we were offerd dinner at the pub - resaurant. Food was good.

The pool is relaxing. It has a jacuzzi like pressure hoses coming through at some points on the walls - and that's great for some.

The pool, the location, the bar and restaurant are perfect. It is the beachside luxury that the photos can't do justice to.
We were staying in the cheapest rooms and these are in no way luxurious, but they do the job and you get what you pay for, it was exceptionally cheap and you don't need to send any time in the rooms when the rest of the hotel is so good!
Even though you are secluded the restaurant and bar caters for all, really amazing value and so much choice that even after 5 nights we were trying new food for dinner.
However the highlight was easily the staff in the bar, so helpful and friendly and attentive. The bar stays open as long as you stay up, even at 5am the barmam was asking if we were ok and wanted anything more!
This hotel is in a perfect location for relaxing and visiting the national parks and its amazing value!
