“Wonderful vacation!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014

We decided to celebrate our Birthdays and New Year in Sri-Lanka (December 2013).

Small and cosy hotel with stunning views. Staff was very friendly and well organised. We enjoyed the hospitality. We had HB assuming there wouldn't be restaurants in the hotel area... and this appeared to be right decision.

Food - just brilliant. Chef is doing his best to make rememberable dishes. Prawns with a size of lobster :-) Our friends couldn't believe until we posted some photos. The way food was really good... and it's not just about portion size - deep taste, fresh ingredients, timely served.

I had a special birthday celebration with a cake, candles, sparklers and what is very important hotel people smiling and wishing all the best.

Christmas Eve was very good too - we were surprised by getting meaningful presents (not a useless junk like in many other places). Good quality cocktails and canapés... sweeeeet! :-) We've also got free lunch next day after Christmas.

In spite of high waves we stayed in the ocean enjoying water.

We stayed only for 6 days and we really regret for being not able to stay longer as we had pre-paid vacation and had to move to another hotel which by the way was very disappointing.

We really consider the possibility to travel to Turtle Bay again when we see more places over the world. Not a final decision but probably not for 2014 as we need to experiment and get new experience.

I strongly recommend Turtle Bay for those people who want to have a good relaxation on a nature, within comfortable atmosphere and staff happy to help you any time!

Room Tip: All rooms have an ocean view!

What a gem! Great hotel on an almost deserted beach, apart from the local fishermen who roped me and the wife into helping pull their nets in for them!! Hot work but lots of friendly faces. Great spacious rooms, that are clean and comfortable and have fantastic views of the sea. Excellent menu and choice of food and drinks. I highly recommend the lagoon prawns and lobster. The friendliest and most helpful staff of any hotel. The chef got up especially at 4am to make us a breakfast pack to take on a whale watching tour, and one of staff hand washed my shirts as we had missed the laundry. A really special place. Sad to leave after three amazing nights.

I have stayed there with my boyfriend in August, unfortunately only for 1 night. Unfortunately, because it was definitely not enough... This place is just a paradise! I will never forget when woke up in the morning and saw breathtaking view from my window! And I just loved walks on the beach which is outstanding and having a drink of the roof. But the true value of the place is not just a view - everything is perfect: rooms, outside area with great places to relax and the most important - staff!! Thank you everybody for making our stay so amazing. Special thanks for the steward who looked after us so well (supervisor) and Sujeewa. We will be back for sure! Justyna & Wojtek

I am reluctant to review this Fantastic Hotel as it has only SEVEN rooms and I will have a lesser chance of booking a room next time. But to be fair, if you like peace and quiet,a fantastic beach, first class food, brilliant staff, excellant rooms, views to die for, great massages, top service,
free extras etc etc. I cannot praise this Hotel high enough, it REALLY IS PARADISE !!!
If only we knew, we would have stayed at least a week instead of Three Nights, everyone there said the same. To be TOTALLY honest, the only small nit pick is the Road to the Hotel from the Main road is, lets say BUMPY, but a small price to pay for EUTOPIA !! ( I understand, it is going to be surfaced, anyway) Health and Finance permitting We will return as soon as possible, SAVE US A ROOM !!!

Room Tip: All Sea/Beach facing, we had first floor, on an end, (LEATHERBACK) Wonderful.

Turtle Bay is definitely off the beaten path, and once you see the beautiful stretch of isolated beach you can't help but feel yourself relax. Our wonderful guide, hansa@feellanka.com, found this gorgeous hotel for us and we couldn't have been happier! The hotel is small with only 8 rooms, and the staff very attentive. You can relax be the pool, lay in a hammock and listen to the waves, or walk down what feels like your own private beach. A mix of couples and families were there and it was a paradise for all!

We spent two nights here last week and loved it! No, it wasn't perfect, but in a way that added to its appeal. The views from the large, comfortable rooms and the very friendly staff made up for any imperfections. This hotel is at the end of a deserted beach where the sand really is untrodden. While the sea is unsafe for swimming, the pool overlooks the beautiful beach. Food was good - fabulous lobster BBQ one evening. There are only 7 rooms, so you can't go wrong - except we would suggest an upstairs room would be preferential. Service was clumsy, but this is Sri Lanka - however, at the price we paid ($240 half board) we would have we expected more. And this was our only complaint, the price. If it were less we would have accepted the blackouts, erratic internet connection, the blinds that didn't work properly, average shower, the fruit flies around the complimentary fruit bowl in the room (made up of whole watermelon and pineapple so not easily eaten!) But would we go back? Tomorrow! This was really a very special place, where you are paying for the seclusion ... just don't expect a 'resort'. We would like to thank the restaurant staff, who were just wonderful.

Not only beautiful rooms, without TVs. Beautiful scenery, unspoilt beaches, rock pools, fantastic meals and a wonderful group of people running the hotel. The hotel is 4 Km off the main road, along a rutted first quarter kilometre and then not to bad a road. You turn right at kilometre post 214, from Colombo to get onto this side road. It will take at least 5 hours to get to the hotel from the airport, even taking the highway. The hotel itself is very secluded and just right for couples who want a special few nights away. You can spend your time walking the beach, swimming in the hotel's pool or taking a morning bird safari. The sea in this area is quite rough and it is unadvisable to swim here.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, the upper rooms do have a wonderful view of the sweeping beach, the lower rooms...
