“A Robinson Crusoe paradise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

Spent 5 nights here with our 2 boys (9 and 12) and had an amazing time. The cabanas are just set back from the beach, with some having sea views. The restaurant (on the beach) had delicious food and especially good breakfasts. There are lovely hammocks on the beach, surrounded by palm trees - a real Robinson Crusoe paradise. It was very quiet - no music blaring out, just the sound of the waves crashing.
Did 2 trips out: one to rock temples, giant buddha and blow hole, and one turtle watching ( which was the highlight of our trip as we were lucky enough to see turtles hatching!)
Very friendly staff. They even did a little surprise for our son's 9th birthday. A lovely, relaxing place to stay.
You cant swim here as there are rocks but can swim 100metres down the beach.

I can hereby fully confirm that all positive ratings on Tripadvisor, or in their paper guestbooks, Ganesh Garden has been rewarded with by fellow travellers are so true!

This place is to die for! Breathtaking!
If you have doubts choosing your accomandation in this area I recommend you choose this one. You will not regret it.

Tip for travellers in the low season, you can bargain to get a real good deal on the prizes. Currently whole alone in the resort, and a cabaña is more then affordable now! (near 50% off). But the service and friendliness and great food remain!

Try the fresh fish, or if you like spicy food, try the fresh squid with the unions, tomato, garlic and peppers salsa! It's awesome if you like it hot! But order an extra Lion beer to refresh/safe your tongue. ;-)

And don't be afraid to bargain a little on the day prizes of fresh sea catches, you are presented with. You will always remain to be treated with their smiles and friendliness. And it may safe you some Roepies

I recommend this place!

Great place. True Sri Lanka'n paradise!!

Room price does not include breakfast and their food and drink are rather pricey although good quality. There is no local shop within walking distance so we suggest you carry some supplies eg water is double the price of local shops.
The ocean was too rough to swim direcly out the front of the guest house, however you can walk 1/2 km up the beach to a rock pool.

I'm surprised there aren't any current reviews considering the guest books at GANESH GARDEN over-flow with compliments.

Anyway, we headed here straight away having arrived in Tangalle via bus. A tuk tuk from the town costs about 300 rupees.

We selected Mud Cabin 12 which was very near to the beach. A lovely cabana, clean and spacious. It cost 5400 rupees per night (approx $41 / £26).

This is a very chilled out place -the restaurant overlooks the ocean and the food is EXCEPTIONAL! Highly recommend everything including a whole fresh red snapper we had one evening. The staff are lovely and attentive and don't bother you at all. There are lots of hammocks and sun beds around and it's set in a coconut mangrove so the setting is lovely and quite romantic.

The only thing is the ocean is very rough which we found in most places on the East & South coasts (except Unawatuna). However, about a 10 minute walk down the beach is a small naturally enclosed pool - closed off by the rocks. So you're able to swim here and because it's such a quiet beach, you'll find that it's pretty quiet most of the time. There's also places for food and drink nearby, so you can spend the day here.

The staff organised tuk tuks if you want to explore the other beaches and rest of the town, and taxi's when we were moving on, and were generally very pleasant. I'd definitely come back here and highly recommend it if you want a chilled out place to snooze, eat and read in peace.

Definitely the place to stay in Tangalle!

Room Tip: Pick a mud-cabin rather than one of the blocks.

Spent 3 days here on our tour of sri lanka. A choice of cabanas - we had a delightful cabana overlooking the beach for $50. Worth booking if you can, to get the better cabanas. Fan and good shower room. Very clean and good beds with msoquito nets. We walked the beach and I can honestly say I think ganesh is the nicest place to stay - with it's garden area overlooking the beach. There are hammocks, and a variety of seats in the sun and shade to suit everyone. It was very hot so this really made the place welcoming
Good menu at the restaurant.
Very laid back vibe - shame the sea was too rough for swimming though whilst we were there. Guys running the place were really nice and not at all pushy.

Room Tip: Try and get a sea view with cabanas on left hand side looking out to sea. Wood or mud are fine

A few people had recommended this place as we were traveling around Sri Lanka and we were lucky to get a room. This place is located on the most stunning long beach - was absolutely beautiful. The cabanas are very simple and get cleaned every couple of days. Unfortunately the sea is a bit rough for swimming but there are some bays quite nearby. This area was so chilled out. Zero hassle. A couple of guesthouses along the beach and nothing else. Staff were all really friendly. We ended up staying here for 4 nights - we'd only planned on one. We headed to Mirissa after this which was a lot more built up. We would return to Tangalle in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Try to get a cabana as close to the sea as possible - nothing like waking up and looking right out o...

Ganesh Garden is a perfect place to relax in a quiet location. The beach here is great - wide, empty, and wild. The restaurant is good, the food is tasty and there is a view on the ocean and beach. The rooms are OK, but they could be a little bit cleaner. The towels were also not very fresh for this price.
