Outstanding hotel. Great rooms scattered around the stunning grounds. Outstanding food - the Sri Lankan selection is the best ive come across in a hotel. Service is superb without being overattentive. No negatives at all!!!

We had booked at the adjacent Village but were upgraded to the Lodge by our Tour Company. After our first night spent in Colombo, this was
the real beginning of a truly memorable two weeks in Sri Lanka. Set off a rather shabby and busy main street we were completely unprepared for the beauty and tranquility of the Habarana Lodge. The grounds (numerous rare trees), the wildlife (monkeys join you for breakfast), the lake, the bedrooms and in particular, the wonderfully
friendly and courteous staff made this the perfect spot for both exploration (don't miss the Sigiriya rock) and relaxation. Add to that the very good food served, if you chose, in the open air and you cannot really ask for much more, unless of course you want night life of which there is none.

We stayed here for 3 nights during a Thomas Cook tour of Sri Lanka in March 2007.

The Cinnamon Lodge is absolutely gorgeous. The staff are attentive, the grounds are amazing, the lake is beautiful, the food is outstanding (you could get lost for days in the cooled dessert room!), the pool is beautiful and the rooms are comfortable, large and very beautifully styled (the pillows are to die for!)

The hotel itself has been created very sympathetically to allow you to immerse yourself in the oustanding nature surrounding the hotel. Even the main building has no outside walls, allowing you to watch monkeys, birds and other creatures as you dine - especially the ubiquitous chipmonks which beg for food at the tables.

The lake beside the hotel is gorgeous. I recommend highly going there to watch the sunset. Breathtaking.

I also recommend the reading room which is upstairs from the bar (they will serve you drinks there). You can sit on comfortable sofas and watch the wildlife around you.

This is a gorgeous hotel. I can't wait to go back!

We stayed at the Habarana lodge in Jul 2006 and have to say it was simply lovely, very tranquil set in woodland with a beautiful lake. The drive up to the reception definately has a wow factor , like stepping back in time to the days of the raj and the britsh empire. A beautiful building with white columns and lovely gardens.

The rooms are all seperate little cottages really with one room downstairs and one above with lovely balconies our room had two. The decor of the room was quite basic (rustic) but nice and clean, the bathroom was a litle dated but again clean and spacious.

The main house was a short walk up stone cobbled pavements lit with small ground lights which added to the atmosphere at night whilst walking to dinner although these paths may not be suitable for infirm travellers.

If you stay here take a walk down to the lake at dusk its onlay a few minutes and its really beautiful (see attached picture) you will also see some wildlife as there are loads of monkeys and mongoose and probably other critters about.

The food was lovely and there was a wide variety of choice which frequently changed and included western and Sri Lankan food.

Ther is a lovely pool although we didnt get time to use it and a nice bar area.
